Historia
Are you a nurse practitioner ready to elevate your practice and offer patients more than symptom management? Functional medicine is revolutionizing healthcare by targeting the root causes of illness rather than just treating symptoms. While conventional medicine often addresses isolated issues, functional medicine takes a systems-based approach, viewing the body as interconnected and deeply influenced by lifestyle, environment, and diet. Functional Medicine for Nurse Practitioners: A Practical Guide provides the roadmap you need to integrate this powerful, holistic approach into your ...

Historia
In The Righteous Mind, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt explores the origins of our divisions and points the way forward to mutual understanding. His starting point is moral intuition - the nearly instantaneous perceptions we all have about other people and the things they do. These intuitions feel like self-evident truths, making us righteously certain that those who see things differently are wrong. Haidt shows us how these intuitions differ across cultures, including the cultures of the political left and right.

Historia
If there is one belief that has united the left and the right, psychologists and philosophers, ancient thinkers and modern ones, it is the tacit assumption that humans are bad. It's a notion that drives newspaper headlines and guides the laws that shape our lives. From Machiavelli to Hobbes, Freud to Pinker, the roots of this belief have sunk deep into Western thought. Human beings, we're taught, are by nature selfish and governed primarily by self-interest.

while I loved this book, you need to exercise caution when reading it. anyone who talks about communism in a positive light is suspect. However, he did to find what he meant by communism and it does not appear to be a governmental structure purposed to redistribute wealth. because of this, I was willing to give him a pass.

Historia
In this explosive new book, Sam Harris tears down the wall between scientific facts and human values, arguing that most people are simply mistaken about the relationship between morality and the rest of human knowledge. Harris urges us to think about morality in terms of human and animal well-being, viewing the experiences of conscious creatures as peaks and valleys on a "moral landscape".

Loved it
Revisado: 05-05-20
I'm very religious, and I love this book. I know Sam Harris is a critique of religion, but perhaps us religious folk could use some constructive criticism. I suspect that the reason reason morality isn't formally taken over by science has to do with the nature of "objective morals". We tend to enforce morals we co sider objective. For some reason, the greater evil seems to be enforcing morals rather than letting a degree of independent thought to be allowed to govern. I do think all of us need to work together to be able to see things as they really are and discuss them openly. Thank you Mr Harris for a thought provoking book to get us further along our journey!
