Historia
Caitlyn Sullivan had come from a long line of Hollywood royalty, stretching back to her Irish immigrant great-grandfather. At nine, she was already a star - yet still an innocent child who loved to play hide-and-seek with her cousins at the family home in Big Sur. It was during one of those games that she disappeared. Some may have considered her a pampered princess, but Cate was in fact a smart, scrappy fighter, and she managed to escape her abductors. Callan Cooper was shocked to find the bloodied, exhausted girl huddled in his house.

Excellent story but...

I really enjoyed the story, but the profanity was jarring. I don't think it necessary to tell a story that way

Historia
Persuasion, Jane Austen's last novel, is a tale of love and marriage told with irony and insight. Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth have met and seperated years before. Their reunion, after the passage or irrecoverable years of their youth, forces a recognition of the false values that drove them apart.

Interesting characters

I enjoyed this very much, but the scene changes were a little choppy. Couldn't help but compare this story with Pearl Buck's Imperial Woman...in fact I think I'll go back and read that again!

Historia
When The Far Pavilions was first published 19 years ago, it moved the critic Edmund Fuller to write this: "Were Miss Kaye to produce no other book, The Far Pavilions might stand as a lasting accomplishment in a single work comparable to Margaret Mitchell's achievement in Gond With the Wind." From its beginning in the foothills of the towering Himalayas, M. M. Kaye's masterwork is a vast, rich, and vibrant tapestry of love and war that ranks with the greatest panoramic sagas of modern fiction.

Sweeping historical content!
Revisado: 08-07-23
I love this story, as I love all of the stories by this author. The only distracting parts were the mispronounced words by the narrator. She did such a good job in general but I wish she had done more research on names and places.
I do highly recommend this in spite of these little issues.

I don't read Catherine Coulter to hear about character's sex lives! I read 3 chapters, thinking maybe it was just a hook. But NO . I skipped to the end and it was even woven into the chilling end.

A BBC Radio 4 full-cast dramatisation of M.M. Kaye’s epic novel of love and war. M.M. Kaye’s masterwork is a vast, rich and vibrant tapestry of love and war that spans over twenty years, moving from the foothills of the Himalayas, to the burning plains, to the besieged British Mission in Kabul. Don't bother
Revisado: 02-26-22
I love this book! but whoever thought it was a good idea to have it narrated by an Indian woman was nuts. It's like you have to remind yourself constantly, throughout, that this is a story about a British MAN in India. It would have been lovely if she was an addition to the narration, but not for the mostly male characters!

Good read
Revisado: 12-11-21
The first 25 chapters are PAINFUL to listen to. The worst reading I've ever suffered through. After that it was ok. Good story and I appreciated the fact it wasn't deemed necessary to use foul language to tell a good story! it wasn't the very best from this author but worth the read.

The narration was expertly done...you can separate the characters by voice and no mental jerks in the process.
The story is one of the best by this author...and I've read nearly all of them!
