This book went from good to bad. The downhill spiral was so overwhelming. Not to mention the wife went from sympathetic to completely loathsome in a hurry.

I don't personally understand the high rating for this book. I am becoming very miss trusting of the rating system. probably the second worse book I have purchased. very disappointing.

I loved this book

I have rarely enjoyed a book quite so much. I am a huge Stephen King fan and now I am a huge Joe Hill fan. I can't wait to continue reading/listening to his work.

Waste of a credit

I really regret purchasing this book. For all the graphic content, I was quite bored throughout and much of the graphic scenes seemed pointless and strictly for the purpose of seeing what he could come up with next. Really was not a work of art, in my opinion. I am quite confused by the rating others have given this book.

Not what I expected

I can't recall ever being so let down by a book, before. The reviews had my convinced that I would love this book, instead, I struggled to get through it and even resented having to finish it. Aside from the plot being subpar, the narrator didn't fit the part (the main character wasn't even 40 but the narrator sounded at least 55) and the author went far too overboard with his use of over description, metaphors, alliteration and broken sentences. It was eye roll inducing to listen to. The story finally got interesting about 12 hours in, then fell flat. I just really wish I hadn't purchased this book. Note to self: read listener reviews first and ignore critic/author reviews.

Decent, overall

It took me a while to finish this book. It started out slow for me, and then got better. Towards the end, it got hard to finish again, but the twist at the end was actually decent. The main character was so unlikable, in my opinion. I really couldn't stand her. I also felt like the story was incomplete in some areas, and many times I felt like a thesaurus was needed, as there were a few words and phrases used so many times, it became eye roll inducing. while I cringed at parts, I think overall, it was decent. I won't listen to again, but it did leave me curious about book #2. I wish it was on Audible!

Terrible Narration

I had to take a break from this book. The story itself isn't bad, but the narrator is terrible. He makes it very difficult to continue listening. Sometimes I found myself laughing out loud at how absolutely horrible his characters were.

great story and narration but horrible editing

the editing of this book was the worst I have come across while using Audible. Sentences cut off, clearly leaving off a word or more, causing it to make no sense and leaving the reader to assume what was said.
