EXPERIENCE THE PASSION WEEK Having grown up in the impoverished lower city of Jerusalem, Shamira is no stranger to injustice at the hands of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Her family is shunned by many in the Jewish community who believe that their misfortune in life is the result of a secret sin. Rumors are spreading of a nearby healer with incredible abilities; if the stories are true, then the Messiah may be near, and Shamira will stop at nothing in the pursuit of a miracle. Asa spends every day at the temple under the tutelage of his strict father, an elite Levite priest who enforces the ...

Great Biblical Fiction
Revisado: 04-02-25
This was a very good book. I loved the story line and the way so many parts of scripture were woven into the characters’ lives. A real depiction of how the believers in Jesus must’ve felt when He was beaten and crucified; and how the new church in Jerusalem began. The narration was tolerable but not nearly as enjoyable as a real person’s voice. Some I’ve tried I just quit at the beginning. I listened to the entire book, so maybe the fake voices are getting better. Sad though, just another way to put real people out of a job.

Totally Captivating!
Revisado: 01-05-25
I loved everything about this novel; the story, the characters, and the narration. I could feel the pain and emotion of each character. I loved how each character grew, the resilience and insight to how and why they felt and acted. It’s one of the best books I’ve ever read.

Heartwarming Story

I was disappointed at first because it wasn’t actually a continuation of the first book but so glad I went ahead and purchased. It was such a great story. It’s good as a standalone and there is a short appearance of the first characters. Definitely worth the read.

Amazing story based on true facts
Revisado: 07-19-24
I loved all of it. The narration was spot on and held a captivated from beginning to end. It brought to Life the devastating effect of the loss and separation of a child from their parents. But also the resilience of humankind. I loved the historical versus the current stories told of one family. Lisa Wingate is one of my favorite writers, and she did an outstanding job of telling the story.

It's nearly Christmas, Julia Devine's favourite time of the year. She's just programmed a wonderful lead into the holidays at Sunny Street Cinema, which leaves her plenty of time to worry about going home to Cumbria for Christmas. Her mum and stepdad are fine, but the thought of spending another holiday with her awful stepsister Becca is enough to make a Scrooge out of anyone. When Becca calls to let her know about the dreamy pilot she's bringing to Christmas lunch, Julia finally snaps and does something very silly.

Historia
Based on the major motion picture, The Nativity Story is the very human, very dramatic, and uniquely inspiring saga of a journey of faith. This moving novelization tells the extraordinary tale of two common people, Mary and Joseph, a miraculous pregnancy, an arduous journey, and the history-defining birth of Jesus. Brought to life with an unprecedented attention to detail and commitment to historical accuracy, Hunt tells how, from humble beginnings, great things can come.

An Awesome Read
Revisado: 07-24-23
I love Biblical history novels. It truly brings alive the hardships the people of Israel. It’s easy to be frustrated with them when we read of their seemingly continuous complaining but this gives light to their frustrations in real life settings. And I loved this story showing the degradation of the societies they conquered and why God gave His chosen people their land.

Hannah and her husband, Elkanah, share a deep and abiding love, for each other, for their God, and for his tabernacle at Shiloh. Greatly disturbed by the corruption of the priests, they long for restoration and pray for a deliverer. But nothing changes as the years pass. Years that also reveal Hannah to be barren. Pressured by his family to take another wife, Elkanah marries Peninnah, who quickly begins to bear children. Disgraced and taunted by her husband's new wife, Hannah turns again to prayers that seem doomed to go unanswered.

Loved it!
Revisado: 06-13-23
This is the first book I’ve ever read on the story of Hannah. It was so good! And makes me so thankful for living in a day/culture that I never had to worry, deal or accept the practice of multiple wives just for the purpose of bearing a child. This was a very thought out and believable telling of the culture in those days. I also really enjoyed the narration.

It's been over a decade since Nora left her hometown of Scupper Island, Maine, and very seldom looked back. She's carved out a successful life in Boston, where no one knows her as the awkward girl with the delinquent sister and the dad who left, but a not-as-dramatic-as-it-sounds brush with death has her taking stock of her life. Inspired to reconnect with her prickly mother and snarky teenage niece, Nora returns home for the summer, where she's forced to face the people she's spent the last ten years trying to avoid.

I’m a Hopeless Romantic

So I did enjoy the book. A little slow but overall was good. The narrator was great. I understand the “deterioration” of long term relationships and loved the effort to restore the first love feeling. NS is a wonderful author.
