Historia
With nothing but the clothes on his back - and something horrific snapping at his heels - Jack Winter fled his rural Georgia home when he was just a boy. Watching the world he knew vanish in a trucker’s rearview mirror, he thought he was leaving an unspeakable nightmare behind forever. Now, years later, the bright new future he’s built suddenly turns pitch black, as something fiendishly familiar looms dead ahead. Surviving a violent car crash seems like a miracle for Jack’s family, but Jack knows there’s nothing divine about it.

Brutal! In a good way.
Revisado: 01-12-25
I went into this audiobook after a few “horror” novels had disappointed me. This time, I was NOT disappointed. It reminded me a little of William Peter Blatty’s The Exorcist. The narration was great, the story had me on the edge of my seat and I had an out-loud gasp towards the end. It was bleak, it was scary, it was gruesome in parts. Overall, I highly recommend!

Historia
Four decades after it first shook the nation, then the world, William Peter Blatty's thrilling masterwork of faith and demonic possession returns in an even more powerful form. Raw and profane, shocking and blood-chilling, it remains a modern parable of good and evil and perhaps the most terrifying novel ever written.

I loved the author’s narration. The story was so much scarier than the movie was.

Slow burn until it’s not.
Revisado: 06-13-23
The story took a little while to unfold but once it did, there were twists within this unique plot. I enjoyed the way it played out and the narration was very good. My issue was the end. I feel like there could have been so much more and it seemed kind of anticlimactic. Almost like Koontz was in a rush to finish. I would have enjoyed it more if the ending was a bit more drawn out and full-bodied. Definitely not a waste of a credit, but I wouldn’t have wanted to pay full price for it. Still worth a “read”.

Awful narration
Revisado: 06-04-23
Despite the story being decent and fairly entertaining, the narration was downright terrible. The narrator sounded like an AI William Shatner and mispronounced far too many words. If you can withstand the narration, it’s an ok story.

Having entertained the idea for years, and even offered a few questionable opportunities ("It's a piece of cake! Just do four hours of interviews, find someone else to write it, put your face on the cover, and voila!") I have decided to tell these stories just as I have always done, in my own voice.

Wow
Revisado: 01-29-22
There are few books that grip me so tightly that I find myself smiling like a fool the entire way through. This is definitely one of those. I have been a fan of Dave Grohl since I was a teenager in the 90s. I have followed his career from Nirvana to now. His lyrics have gotten me through so many things in my life. He, being a genuinely good and kind person, have made him my favorite recording artist of all time. I wish there were such a thing as book amnesia because it would give anything to be able to listen to him tell this story all over again, anew. His words, his voice, and the incredible life he has lived are poignant and emotional. I would recommend this book to any lover of music and storytelling.

A down-to-earth global pop star. A deeply spiritual, cerebral powerhouse. A famously outspoken introvert. For her millions of fans, and the few unacquainted, defining rock luminary Alanis Morissette is an exercise in dichotomies and nuance. And though her most formidable traits are seemingly at odds with one another, they are, oddly enough, completely emblematic of all of us: complex, conflicting, and, most importantly, ever evolving. With her striking command of language and profound emotional fluency, the 46-year-old covers an enormous amount of personal ground with listeners.

I fell in love with Jagged Little Pill when I was in middle school and I have always admired the singing and songwriting of Alanis Morissette. What a beautiful little session, reminiscent of VH1 Storytellers. This made me feel all the feels and I sang along to every song.

Historia
East Antarctica: the coldest, most desolate location on earth. Two-and-a-half miles below the ice cap is Vostok, a 6,000 square mile liquid lake, over 1,000 feet deep, left untouched for more than 15 million years. Now, marine biologist Zachary Wallace and two other scientists aboard a submersible tethered to a laser will journey 13,000 feet beneath the ice into this unexplored realm to discover Mesozoic life-forms long believed extinct - and an object of immense power responsible for the evolution of modern man.

Not what I was expecting.
Revisado: 05-26-17
I have read several of Steve Alten's books and I was looking for a similar story here. While Vostok has its classic moments, the story line veered far too into the strange and absurd. I do enjoy a good sci-if story but it did not feel like it belonged in this one. Aliens, out of body experiences, time travel, it just did not sit well with me and it was incredibly boring and confusing throughout most of the book. I had to stop before the ending because I could t take it anymore. Additionally, this particular narrator is dry unless he is performing with some kind of accent. The narrator from most of the Meg books is far superior.

They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. A classic that needs better editing.
Revisado: 09-01-16
This will always be one of my favorite Stephen King novels. The narrator did an OUTSTANDING performance. Probably one of the best I've ever heard. Unfortunately the editing could use work. Words were cut off and I almost feel as if I missed some of the story. But that's the only drawback. Otherwise it was amazing.
