Historia
Lord William has finally gained his desire to move his family from Bath to his country estate, Wethington Manor, west of Reading, not too far from either Bath or London. Lady Amy is a happy, contented mother to their son, and has taken up her writing once again. Their family members are close by, and all is well. Well, maybe not. The new village vicar is charming, polite, and serves inspiring sermons. The villagers adore him, and many young women have their eye on the handsome cleric. I was not a gambler. No way. I've built an existence free of risk and adventure. From my career to a small life with my closest family. I was not going to do anything to jeopardize my heart. But when my neighbor and number one menace to my safe plans showed up in Vegas, I did what every adventurous (not!) woman would do. I got drunk and married the man.

outstanding

This book is a "must read" for anyone who loves history, family heartache and repair. The author weaves the family history during WWII with the current entanglements it has left behind.
It is an excellent rich and ultimately satisfying story of women and the ones they love.

Met her. Got familiar. Liked it. A lot. Wouldn’t mind some more. Same ol’ story— they meet, roll around in the sheets, and get their happily ever after… or don’t— right? So what makes ours any different? Simple. This story involves one Presley Alexandra Beckett. The woman who takes any and every damn thing I thought I knew and flips, twists, distorts, denies and defies it until I lose track of up from down. Just when I start to think I’ve got her figured out… I uncover the real reason why Presley spends her life hiding behind a wall of sassy, stubborn deflection. And now? ...

Really could enjoy the story, BUT not having distinctive voices made the characters indistinguishable. I had trouble deciding who was speaking and had to rewind several times.

Excellent Story
Revisado: 02-14-24
Kate Canterbury has written a poignant story full of young lovers who find each other at confusing times of their lives. The story is a satisfying mix of insight into the character's angst in finding each other as people at different times of their lives. A great read, I finished it in a day!

Historia
March, 1815. The Bourbon King Louis XVIII has been restored to the throne of France, Napoleon is in exile on the isle of Elba, and Sebastian St. Cyr, Viscount Devlin, and his wife, Hero, have traveled to Paris in hopes of tracing his long-lost mother, Sophie, the errant Countess of Hendon. But his search ends in tragedy when he comes upon the dying Countess in the wasteland at the tip of the Île de la Cité. Stabbed—apparently with a stiletto—and thrown from the bastions of the island's ancient stone bridge, Sophie dies without naming her murderer.

Historia
In the quirky, picturesque lakeside community of Lily Dale, where the residents can talk to the dead, young widow Bella Jordan is the lone skeptic among believers. She doesn't believe in ghosts…but after a year in the village, she would admit that her new friends do sometimes seem to know impossible things. Still, when a Black stranger dressed in old-fashioned clothing arrives unexpectedly at Bella's guesthouse at midnight on Juneteenth, only to vanish the next day as if he'd never existed, Bella's sure there has to be a logical explanation.

I am constantly trying to figure out the murderer's identity in these books and haven't achieved my goal! The author is very good at planting enough suspects in your mind to keep you second guessing. A very good read in all so far, and the narration is well done.
