Historia
Paul Scheer has entertained countless fans and podcast listeners with stories about the odd, wild, and absurd details of his life. Yet these tales have pointed to deeper, more difficult truths that the actor and comedian has kept to himself. Now, he is finally ready to share those truths for the first time—but, of course, with a healthy dose of humor.

An honest retrospective
Revisado: 07-24-24
The Paul is a comedian and humor can be found throughout this seemed more than adequate to call honest. That is not something I see a lot right now when people speak about how they feel, or what is going on around them. I felt a lot of connections to what Paul was stating he learned both at the time and later about some of what occurred during his childhood, even more about his reflections on relationships into adulthood. Then Paul wrote about his ADHD diagnosis and his reflections of his past related to it. I had my diagnosis as a child but it never really added up to me how it was impacting my life until the last few years. Today when I finished the book and took that portion in it’s really adding to the push that I need to work on it even more for not only my own sake but for those that I love.

A book everyone should read
Revisado: 12-12-21
I feel as if I needed this book during the last week more than I ever would have before. Coastal elites and big city types have always tried to steer these conversations away from rural America.

Historia
Poet Ocean Vuong’s debut novel is a shattering portrait of a family, a first love, and the redemptive power of storytelling. On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous is a letter from a son to a mother who cannot read. Written when the speaker, Little Dog, is in his late 20s, the letter unearths a family’s history that began before he was born - a history whose epicenter is rooted in Vietnam - and serves as a doorway into parts of his life his mother has never known, all of it leading to an unforgettable revelation.

A modern masterpiece
Revisado: 11-15-21
I often do not listen to personal narratives such as this, but I may begin doing so more often. I had seen an interview with the author somewhere and was very interested in reading this. I am so glad I did so because this gave me an incredible look into a life very different from my own that I could still relate to greatly. This book made me want to write.

I needed this

Words are like fists not matter your intention. If they must be this way perhaps you can use phrases with intention like the throws in Judo.
