Historia
The Roaring Twenties—the Jazz Age—has been characterized as a time of Gatsby frivolity. But it was also the height of the uniquely American hate group, the Ku Klux Klan. Their domain was not the old Confederacy, but the Heartland and the West. They hated Blacks, Jews, Catholics and immigrants in equal measure, and took radical steps to keep these people from the American promise. And the man who set in motion their takeover of great swaths of America was a charismatic charlatan named D.C. Stephenson.

FRIGHTENINGLY LIKE MODERN TIMES
Revisado: 08-25-23
Very well written and researched. The audible version is beautifully read. The book reviews the scary rise and fall of the Ku Klux Klan in Indiana and how the Grand Dragon, a drunk, a megalomaniac, a sexual abuser, and a seeming demigod was slain by a dead woman’s testimony. The current of hatred and intolerance flowing hidden under the surface of the Protestant churches of that time found the right leaders, place and time to infiltrate every institution in the state. Jews, African Americans, Catholics and immigrants were disenfranchised and discriminated against. This book is a must read and should be part of the curriculum of every school in the nation.

His Beat Book
Revisado: 07-03-23
Beautifully written and very well read, Koontz has written perhaps his best book out of many wonderful tales. The story dabbles in quantum physics, but is made easier to understand by putting some of the explanations into the mouths of children. The book is thrilling, sweet and touches on many societal issues. Thoroughly enjoyable read!

Historia
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Wow, Wow, Wow!
Revisado: 01-30-23
Of the 300+ Audible books in my library this is by far the best book I have ever listened to. The magic of Stephen King enhanced by the spectacular performance of Seth Numrich combined to make this book one of my favorites of all time. In a 24 hour narrative one would expect a lot of fluff to fill in the pages, I found none in this masterpiece. Thank you for 24 wonderful hours of entertainment!!

It was an interesting theme and story but the performance ruined it. All the characters sound like valley girls and all the men sound alike.

Never is an extraordinary novel, full of heroines and villains, false prophets and elite warriors, jaded politicians and opportunistic revolutionaries. Magic Hour Not So Magic
Revisado: 06-04-21
Hanna has come out with some excellent books. She is an accomplished writer. This book, however, didn’t live up to her usual writing. The story is good but quite unbelievable in many places.
The performer did very well with the child, however, as for the rest of the characters and narration, her cadence, pitch, and Volume were quite distracting, off-putting and at times annoying.
