Great story
Revisado: 06-24-24
I really like the story. Had a nice twist. I normally turn down stories that have virtual voice as a narrator. This virtual voice was really good until it came to a few points where it was trying to express surprise or sarcasm.

The right amount of everything.

When I say the right amount of everything, I mean, not too much violence not too much drama. And although I do like zombies. There’s a time in a place.

Historia
As Cady struggles under the enormous pressure at Harvard, she investigates her brother’s final year, armed only with a blue notebook of Eric’s cryptic scribblings. She knew he had been struggling with paranoia, delusions, and illusory enemies - but what tipped him over the edge? Voices fill her head, seemingly belonging to three ghosts who passed through the university in life, or death, and whose voices, dreams, and terrors still echo the halls. Among them is a person whose name has been buried for centuries, and another whose name mankind will never forget.

This was an excellent read with well-developed characters. The author did a remarkable job weaving past and present with extraordinary attention to detail. The narration was also outstanding. I highly recommend this one.

Great narration and weak female characters
Revisado: 07-02-21
The storyline was great, as was the narration; however, the often clueless and weak female characters really ruined the story for me, personally.

Historia
Nate Beckett has spent his life fighting wildfires instead of the lies and rumors that drove him from his Colorado hometown. His mother begs him to come back now that his father has been released from prison, but it isn’t until he’s sidelined by an injury that he’s forced to return and face his past. But that means facing Brenna, too. Fourteen years ago, Nate was in love with the preacher’s daughter. When Pastor Strickland discovered Brenna defied him to sneak out with Nate, the fight between Strickland and Nate’s drunken dad was loud - and very public.

Great story with mediocre narration
Revisado: 08-19-20
This was a great book. It had a wonderful storyline and the female narrator did a great job with the female character. However, her voice for the male character sounded very much the same as that of the female. Many times I would be listening to what should have been the male character, and I would need to stop, and question myself because of the voice similarities. The religiosity took me off guard but in the end it provided some great reminders.

Historia
Charley Davidson, Grim Reaper extraordinaire, is pissed. She’s been kicked off the earthly plane for eternity - which is the appropriate amount of time to make a person stark-raving mad. But someone’s looking out for her, and she’s allowed to return after a mere hundred years in exile. Is it too much to hope for that not much has changed? Apparently it is. Bummer.

I always forget how much I loathe Kate Rudd’s narrations, only to recall once I hear her stilted voice—too late. Made it to chapter 6 when the author seemed to run out of original words and began filling the page with a multitude of quotes from poets and other authors. Refund, please.
