Historia
What was God doing between the Old and New Testaments? There was a four-hundred-year gap between the last Old Testament prophet and the New Testament arrival of Jesus Christ. It’s called the Intertestamental period. In that time period, there were some very significant things happening and they were related to the Bible and its prophecies as described by the prophet Daniel. This book explores some of the biblical and historical meaning of it all.

The Period Between Daniel and The New Testament
Revisado: 05-04-25
The book of Daniel's description of the wars between the "King of the South" and the "King of the North" is well explained. The author brings understanding of the events during this period, and in doing so, gives greater meaning to biblical verses such as,
"'The LORD whom ye seek shall suddenly come to His temple; even the Messenger of the covenant whom ye delight in. Behold, He shall come' says the Lord of Hosts."
(At least it did for me.)
The author also covers many of the Jewish myths of those days and how they may relate to spiritual "forces".
I particularly appreciated the Appendix and listened to it a few times. I haven't had a chance to review the PDF included in this audiobook, but I will be printing it soon.
I've read and listened to other books by Brian Godawa. I've learned quite a bit from him, particularly about Preterism.
Overall, this was a good listen.

Kept Me Interested
Revisado: 01-17-25
Sometimes William Boyd's books leave me with a haunted feeling - such as did "Restless" and this book, "Gabriel''s Moon". I'm not sure if it's because they both deal with espionage and the effects of relationships in that world, but Mr Boyd's storytelling and style leave a lasting impression on my mind. Maybe it's the "romanticism".
I tried this book after reading a recent review in an online newspaper (unfortunately, I don't recall which) and I'm glad I did.
The narrator did a good job, too.

Trying to figure out what they are
Revisado: 01-03-25
Often while reading the OT, I've tried to figure out what are these creatures, and what do they represent. Are they dinosaurs, dragons, fallen hosts? Brian lays out in detail how poetry, symbolism, and ancient cultures and religions are addressed in these creatures. This short book clarified many questions for me, and it helped me to understand how Yahweh used poetry to communicate to us that which He has accomplished. For a non-poetic mind such as mine, this book gave me understanding, just as Godawa's other books have helped me to understand how the Bible uses hyperbole. I've shared this title with others and I recommend it.

Kept Me Interested
Revisado: 10-16-24
Another great novel by William Boyd. Kept me so interested that I finished it in a couple of days, listening constantly as I worked around the house. I give plenty of credit to the narrator, too. His calm voice and his distinguishing between characters allowed me to listen and stay in the story. His female voices were not exaggerated, and the different accents for the various characters played well.

Interesting
Revisado: 08-22-24
Rosamund Pike's narration is top-notch. Her voice is clear and easy to listen to, making it easy to listen for long lengths. The story itself kept my interest, and, in particular, the revealing of the caliber of spies exchanged for the illegals. Overall, this was a really good listen.

Historia
The Kennedy name has long been synonymous with wealth, power, glamor, and—above all else—integrity. But this carefully constructed veneer hides a dark truth: the pattern of Kennedy men physically and psychologically abusing women and girls, leaving a trail of ruin and death in each generation’s wake. Through decades of scandal after scandal—from sexual assaults to reputational slander, suicides to manslaughter—the family and their defenders have kept the Kennedy brand intact.

The Detail and Impact on the Families of these Women
Revisado: 07-14-24
I listened to this in one day from start to finish. The narrator did a good job. The author provides us with detail that many refused to see or acknowledge at the time of these events, mainly for political reasons. Ultimately, one realizes that these are the tip of the iceberg, and it's very sad.

Historia
Sir Lawrence Linwood is dead. More accurately, he was murdered—savagely beaten to death in his own study with a mediaeval mace. The murder calls home his three adopted children: Alan, an archeologist; Roger, an engineer; and Caroline, a journalist. But his heirs soon find that his last testament contains a strange proviso—that his estate shall go to the heir who solves his murder.

Waiting for more from this Author
Revisado: 11-05-23
Loved this book. I'm looking forward to more from this author. The narrator did a great job and I will look for other books narrated by him.
I'd recently been struggling to find a good listen. Then I took a chance and listened to Christopher Huang's "A Gentleman's Murder", which I thoroughly enjoyed. I looked for more from this author and lucky for me he had one more book from Audible - "Unnatural Ends". This mystery is so interesting. The psychological experiences of the three siblings drew me in and held me. Like the prior novel by this author, I enjoy the period age of the story, too. And like the prior novel, I listened to this every available waking moment and fell asleep at night to it.
I've decided to follow this author and can hardly wait for his next novel. If you're looking for a good story writer, try Christopher Huang. The narrator for both books is Raphael Corkhill.

This was Excellent
Revisado: 03-26-23
This was excellent. This shows faithfulness to remain true to The Word of The Lord even when there are some passages that are difficult to understand (just like Peter said about Paul's). Being honest, one has to consider if what one believes is simply that which one has always heard, or if one is willing to do the work (prayer, reading, study, meditating on the Word) that the Holy Spirit may renew our minds.

Haunting
Revisado: 08-19-21
Partway through I expected another murder but found myself more interested in listening to the characters' conversations and thoughts. Yes, at some point - thanks to Hercule Poirot - I guessed the murderer and the reason, but one can never be 100% sure with Agatha Christie. Still, it was the characters whom Agatha Christie created that kept me glued to this book.
I would describe the story as haunting. The feelings, emotions, hopes, and humor will stay with me for a long while as I go through a sort of "withdrawal". Call me romantic.
