This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Only a small part of the listen was related to the amish murders. Want followed was two detailed accounts of horrifying torture and murder. I hope I don't have nightmares tonight. I finally did the adult thing and quit listening.
What could Gregg Olsen and Kevin Sullivan have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
They could have made the Amish schoolhouse murders. the focus of their book.
Would you be willing to try another one of Kevin Pierce’s performances?
yes
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
probably. I can't enumerate those at this time.

If society collapsed, could you survive? When Morgan Carter's car breaks down 250 miles from his home, he figures his weekend plans are ruined. But things are about to get much, much worse: the country's power grid has collapsed. There is no electricity, no running water, no Internet, and no way to know when normalcy will be restored - if it ever will be.

too many characters in first person pov
Revisado: 05-05-14
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
listeners with better brains!!
What do you think your next listen will be?
Particle physics for non-physicsists
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator is fine. Perhaps drawing obvious cues for the book's character changes?
What character would you cut from Going Home?
Perhaps one of Morgan's victims
Any additional comments?
My difficulty in following the plot arose from the contnual change of characters proviing their point of view without notifying the listener that a change is occurring.

Historia
Hitler’s rise to power, Germany’s march to the abyss, as seen through the eyes of Americans—diplomats, military, expats, visiting authors, Olympic athletes—who watched horrified and up close. By tapping a rich vein of personal testimonies, Hitlerland offers a gripping narrative full of surprising twists—and a startlingly fresh perspective on this heavily dissected era.

I liked it; you might not
Revisado: 05-31-13
Would you try another book from Andrew Nagorski and/or Robert Fass?
yes
The book is very (almost nauseatingly) detailed. If you're not into trivia, avoid this.
What did you like best about this story?
the personal details of the main characters in the German journey, especially the Americans who were observers of "the rise and fall of the third reich." Much of it was not included in the Shirer book of that title.
Have you listened to any of Robert Fass’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
no
Do you think Hitlerland needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
no. he came, conquered, and died. that's all. thankfully.

The Mote In God's Eye is their acknowledged masterpiece, an epic novel of mankind's first encounter with alien life that transcends the genre. No lesser an authority than Robert A. Heinlein called it "possibly the finest science fiction novel I have ever read".

plot not linear
Revisado: 05-05-13
Would you try another book from Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle and/or L J Ganser?
At the end of the first download break, a character dies, who is unmentioned at the beginniing of audible's part 2. I listened to that first section several times and decided the plot was time traveling without me. too many holes in the plot line--I'm just not that smart. So many have remarked that htis was the best SF ever written. It had been too long since purchase to return it, but I was able to return, unlisted to, The Gripping Hand, a sequel.
Has The Mote in God's Eye turned you off from other books in this genre?
see above
Would you be willing to try another one of L J Ganser’s performances?
no--returned one I had purchased.
