40 More Chilling Cases This volume delves into the chilling cases of black widow killers—women who charmed, manipulated, and ultimately killed their husbands, lovers, or families for money, power, revenge, or twisted pleasure. Blending psychological analysis, forensic details, and evocative storytelling, Women Who Murders 2 examines how these killers exploited societal stereotypes of femininity and trust to carry out their crimes. It challenges readers to question the dynamics of power and control in relationships, and to consider what drives someone to murder those closest to them. ...

I really dislike virtual voice. It doesn't have the inflections a real voice has. It's only slightly better than text to voice. Given the choice of a print version, or virtual voice... I'll go with the printed.

Media and law enforcement work at cross-purposes. Law enforcement want to solve a case as fast as possible and put the guilty behind bars. The media want a case to drag on as long as humanly possible and do all they can to extricate every last bit of drama, drop by bloody drop, in order to hold the attention of the millions of viewers who have gotten hooked. Law enforcement must abide by rules. The media make their own rules, and even then break them or find ways to work loopholes into them.

This book says more about us, than most people will be comfortable with. it has gotten to the point that there's less real news than fake. journalists have a responsibility to check facts before they publish, or hit submit on their keyboards. it boils down to to a verdion of "if it bleeds, it leads". we as consumers of said journalism should expect and demand it be factual.

Historia
At the end of the fifteenth century, Burgundy was extinguished as an independent state. It had been a fabulously wealthy, turbulent region situated between France and Germany, with close links to the English kingdom. Torn apart by the dynastic struggles of early modern Europe, this extraordinary realm vanished from the map. But it became the cradle of what we now know as the Low Countries, modern Belgium and the Netherlands. This is the story of a thousand years, a must-listen narrative history of ambitious aristocrats, family dysfunction, treachery, savage battles, luxury, and madness.

Who in the quiet village of Chipping would kill wealthy spinster Idris Campanula? Plenty of people—among them her fellow cast members from a troubled charity production. Miss Campanula was a spiteful gossip, gleefully destroying others’ lives merely for her own excitement. Historia
Blood seeps into the gutters at the Children's Zoo in Central Park. Two deer have been slaughtered, one stabbed fifty-seven times and the other slashed across the neck. Normally it would be a case for the Parks Department, but these are no ordinary deer. The pride of the small menagerie, they were given to the zoo by a prominent socialite who cannot afford bloody headlines. The NYPD hands the case to Detective Reardon, star of the homicide squad. A recent widower at fifty-six, Reardon has seen too many human victims to care much about the two butchered animals.

Historia
The “Prey” novels by Pulitzer prize-winning journalist John Sandford consistently make the best-seller lists, but they are not for the faint of heart. Featuring Minneapolis Lieutenant Lucas Davenport, these thrillers are raw, graphic, and impossible to put down. In Eyes of Prey, a depressed and unfocused Davenport takes on a macabre case, tracking down a serial killer who maims the eyes of his victims after he has murdered them.

Historia
Independence Day weekend, 1960: a young cop is murdered, shocking his close-knit community in Stamford, Connecticut. The killer remains at large, his identity still unknown. But on a beach not far away, a young Army doctor, on vacation from his post at a research lab in a maximum-security prison, faces a chilling realization. He knows who the shooter is. In fact, the man—a prisoner out on parole—had called him only days before. By helping his former charge and trainee, the doctor, a believer in second chances, may have inadvertently helped set the murder into motion.

This story was very different than the usual true crime I listen to. I found it very interesting but a little confusing with the huge number of different families and family members. this is where the print version would have been helpful.

Historia
One Australian woman is hospitalised every three hours and two more lose their lives each week as a result of family violence. But for some women there is a punishment far more enduring than injury or their own death. Look What You Made Me Do is a timely exploration of the evil inflicted by vengeful fathers who have killed their own children simply to punish partners for ending unrewarding, often abusive relationships.

this book should be mandatory
Revisado: 11-29-23
This book should be mandatory reading for all law enforcement. I know that both men and women can become violent, but men are more likely too. Every single case in this book had huge red flags, but the authorities couldn't, or wouldn't do anything. Domestic violence can be found all over the world. It's time we stopped ignoring it.
