so great story but this entire genre does stat blocks soooo poorly . its made worse when it goes on for a prolonged period of time. 5 minutes of hearing stats only broken up by and so on untill . look the phrase " and so on untill " generally means the next thing said after is the last thing not go on for 5 more things .

seriously so much filler in this book its ridiculous. I seriously ended up having to skip around 3 hours just to keep listening because wow we don't need to know EVERY DETAIL of the lives they lived , Matt's are the only ones we need to know about even then it should only be a little longer explanation . then the rest of the party recaps a little about the lives they lived. basically the same as when they start recapping to the party themselves. there's a solid 3 hours you could've cut out .

its not a bad book , pretty liberal writer but its ok the writers work is still good . just don't buy reviews maybe ? hundreds of 5 stars showing up in one day yeahhh its obvious.

so the narration is so mono toned it becomes grating .
the book itself seems to be written by an Ai and then edited by a human because it is so dull . id say as a avid listener and novice writer myself of litrpgs this is the 2nd worst story I've listened to the #1 worst being skyrealms . at least I didn't have to pay for this one to be let down by it.

so I'm glad book 1 and 2 were free in a publishers pack because this would've been a waste of money if not .
I swear this story was review boosted .
I tried listening but its not a story that grabs you at any point . ive been listening to lit rpgs that go over statistic dialogue that grabs my attention better than this story .
I really have a problem differentiating between characters and like other reviewers have stated the characters are a little too perfect . for hours its seemed like the princess only wants to make good meals for her dad . honestly the author breaks the rule of show don't tell quite a bit in ways that would show character development even in regards to things such as the princesses desire to cook .
look kings are usually incredibly flawed individuals they may be good rulers and take out their frustrations on their family , vise versa great husbands and dads that have no leadership ability . making a king a loving and doting father and making him out to be a good ruler makes them too perfect .
look I listen to audio books at work , ive listened to thousands of hours of books , even things so dull as psychology text books . when I mean this story is dull I mean I'd stop listening and let the story keep going and the characters were essentially doing the same shit as when I quit paying attention hours earlier . but I guess I can understand now why this story had a discount of free.

so I'm glad this was in a full package , I will never listen to it again though . other series in this genre do this same trope way better . I truly don't understand why you wrote out the same line of details such as exp gain or stats 5+ times for every encounter. saying something like after the fight i got 250 exp total would have sufficed and made the series as a whole better . I think it was book 2 or 3 where there was a solid 5 minutes of just stats being listed .... why ? as readers we don't need this we don't need to know all this. you need to condense the information saying something like my fame as increased by 1000 points with this faction that is way better than listing every faction and their reputation . I honestly should have stopped listening after the MC unlocked cartography but I had this morbid curiosity to see how much worse this series could be compared to the last two series in this genre I listened to . litterally a series about a tree is better than this .

Expand on the universe more in future series

I had a love hate with this series , I had just got done listening to another series that had magic and such and its became my favorite series . however this series seemed not to hit that mark right away but I stuck it out and im so glad I did because the ending was incredibly touching . id love to see this universe expanded on where maybe asmodeus brothers find out he was killed and they want revenge after like a 200 year time skip , either way amazing story that had me on the edge .

wow this story is so good !
I wasn't sure how I'd feel about it however i found myself really loving the character ling , so much character development was put into her the good and bad and all of her character flaws put out there . im American and even though this story takes place from a Chinese point of view where America is clearly a bad guy I could still really appreciate the story . half way through the book I found myself recommending it to coworkers at that point already . im going on to buying the next books in the series I know this is basically a precursor to those stories but I can't wait !
