So slow. This is a book where NOTHING but angst happens
Revisado: 04-17-25
So boring. Coupled with odd choices by the narrator. The narrator has a good voice but she uses a breathy warbly one for the main character which makes her sound stupid even when the line is supposed to be smart. It’s kind of painful to listen to.

Historia
Nerdy astronomy geek Marsha, "M" to her few friends, has never been anybody special. Orphaned as an infant and reluctantly raised by an overly-strict "aunt", she's not even sure who she is. M's dream of someday escaping tiny Jewel, Indiana, and making her mark in the world seems impossibly distant until hot new quarterback Rigel inexplicably befriends her. As Rigel turns his back on fawning cheerleaders to spend time with M, strange things start to happen....

Interesting but the narrator is really terrible!
Revisado: 04-15-25
The story is a little heavy on the angst but starts to get interesting. The main character would be more likable of the narrator didn’t sound like her voice was always warbling and breaking. I hope they find a new narrator for the rest of the series.

Historia
Fitzwilliam Darcy's uncle has insisted he finally remain in town for the full season. Ill at ease in London society, he makes a cutting remark about Elizabeth Bennet, a woman he's barely met. But she is not unprotected, and when an earl demands he make amends, he reluctantly complies. Darcy is prepared to deal with yet another fortune hunter, but Elizabeth's kindness towards society's wallflowers and her quiet bravery in the face of adversity slowly wear away his prejudices. As his admiration grows, so does his dilemma.

This was a very natural way to approach giving Elizabeth and Jane a real season without just making them duchesses or something silly. Loved the way they handled Me Bingley and the Colonel. This is one I would re-read for sure!

Not bad but the narrator makes no distinction between characters and it makes it a bit muddled when you’re listening.
Revisado: 01-26-25
The story is ok. Darcy and Elizabeth a sweet but because the narrator makes everyone, men and women sound the same of you get distracted by a kid or while doing laundry when you try to check back in you have to go backward to hear in the dialogue who the speaker is. It got progressively more annoying. With Harry Frost or Stevie Zimmerman this would have been more of a winner.

Historia
In Jane Austen's classic Pride & Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennet never expects to see Mr. Darcy again after his disastrous proposal in Hunsford. But what if family business required him to stay at Rosings after giving her his letter? Coming face to face with Mr. Darcy only days later could give Elizabeth a new chance to understand him... or chance for even more misunderstandings.

Weirdly explicit and way too much angst.
Revisado: 01-08-25
I usually like Abigail Reynolds but this book is a total miss. Elizabeth goes to Darcy’s house in the middle of the day to consummate their relationship….seriously?? She was the smart sister. It’s not like she was in a circumstance that led to familiarity but she literally just goes to his house. So weird. The story doesn’t bother with any real character building and instead pretty much focuses on angst and sex.

90% Angst! 8% Graphic Sex, 2% plot. This is a skip!
Revisado: 12-16-24
The majority of this book is dedicated to the angst of the protagonist. The rest was explicit sex scenes that made no sense. This whole book felt phoned in. You could read the last chapter and you’d still know enough to go on to read the next book.

She thought him dead. Now only he can save their daughter. When Lady Catherine de Bourgh told Elizabeth Bennet: “And this is your real opinion! This is your final resolve! Very well. I shall now know how to act. Do not imagine, Miss Bennet, that your ambition will ever be gratified. I came to try you. I hoped to find you reasonable; but, depend upon it, I will carry my point,” no one knew how vindictive and manipulative her ladyship might prove, but Darcy and Elizabeth were about to discover the bitter truth for themselves. This is a story of true love conquering even the most dire ...

Elizabeth Bennet is living a lie. She’s known since she was fifteen that she isn't truly a Bennet, but who is she? Are the people and places that appear in her dreams just a sign of her active imagination, or are they memories of her true family? Could the stories she'd told Jane when they were children not be stories at all?

This plot is just cumbersome to get through. The pacing is super slow and no one but Robbie and Fitzy are likable. This is a hard pass. Go read “The Houseguest” so much better!
