Historia
Some conspiracy theories turn out to be true. FBI profiler Victor Loshak works a brutal murder case in Watertown, New York - a woman found strangled in her basement, her face gone purple and baggy. But as he sifts through the crime scene details, his mind keeps drifting back to Kansas City, his last job. The human trafficking case there ended in something of a cliffhanger, and it's a loose end that everyone else in law enforcement seems in no hurry to tie up. The truth is out there. Always just out of reach.

It's, like, something you should listen to
Revisado: 04-17-20
During time of quarantine, my judgement became questionable on everything from have extensive conversations with my dog to accepting cool ranch Doritos as an acceptable breakfast staple. However, on day 84, I redeemed myself by listening to Take Warning. A story with topics that not only would be filtered by Amazon's filter but instills great shame onto me as they genuinely entertain me.

Historia
Jake saw something unspeakable when he was nine. An act of violence. Brutal. He doesn't know it, but this trauma will play a key role in shaping him later in life. Now, he's 15. A wimp. He flinches. Always. He seeks the guidance of the biggest bad-ass he knows, his cousin Nick. Nick is a professional burglar and makes Jake his apprentice. Nick teaches Jake his dark philosophy - that there is no right or wrong in the world, just a series of events that happen without meaning. At first this helps Jake, but it also unleashes an aggression in himself he never thought possible....

Captivating
Revisado: 07-26-19
What a deeply lonely character. Jake pleads with his reads for understanding with constantly explaining himself and giving excessive examples to prove his point. His journey to understand control plays out in his writing and how he interacts with the readers. He begs to control your point of view as he does with other characters throughout the book. A path that leads to understand the true meaning of control. It's a captivating novel that has a spark a genius.

Historia
Ten years ago, six friends went on vacation. One made it out alive... In that instant, college student Quincy Carpenter became a member of a very exclusive club - a group of survivors the press dubbed “The Final Girls”: Lisa, who lost nine sorority sisters to a college dropout's knife; Sam, who endured the Sack Man during her shift at the Nightlight Inn; and now Quincy, who ran bleeding through the woods to escape the massacre at Pine Cottage. Despite the media's attempts, the three girls have never met.

Overrated but okay
Revisado: 08-06-18
Story feels poorly constructed and very convenient. Characters don't always make sense
Great voice actor though.

Historia
The Bell Jar chronicles the crack-up of Esther Greenwood: brilliant, beautiful, enormously talented, and successful but slowly going under - maybe for the last time. Sylvia Plath masterfully draws the reader into Esther's breakdown with such intensity that Esther's insanity becomes completely real and even rational, as probable and accessible an experience as going to the movies. Such deep penetration into the dark and harrowing corners of the psyche is an extraordinary accomplishment and has made The Bell Jar a haunting American classic.

Historia
Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made 28 years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children.

Steven Weber is the best part.
Revisado: 12-01-17
No joke, Steven Weber is the best part. His performance is unlike many others I have heard. Really impeccable. The story is excessive. It's an extensive look at a group of people but lacks much story for being as long as it is. 35 hours of back stories and 10 hours of actual story.

Historia
Melanie is a very special girl. Dr. Caldwell calls her "our little genius". Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don't like her. She jokes that she won't bite, but they don't laugh. Melanie loves school. She loves learning about spelling and sums and the world outside the classroom and the children's cells. She tells her favorite teacher all the things she'll do when she grows up.

Good but I don't know
Revisado: 05-05-17
It's good, I was hooked real fast and is clearly written with superior preicision. But it drags and drags. By the end I was just glad to know how it ended. As it's saving grace it does end pretty awesome.
Has a ton of action which I get I find a little boring but I imagine some people love that. It's good, worth a listen but can lose your attention at times.

In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Really this provides a perspective so rare in American culture. It's intelligent and beautifully insightful on poverty, oppression, and racism.
