Historia
Scarlett Semiria knew the cost of her actions the day she sacrificed everything to keep her family, her Courts, and her twin flame safe. At least she thought she did. When she discovers the cost was more than she could have ever anticipated, she finds herself once again forced to choose between saving innocents or saving the ones she loves. But this choice might just leave her so broken, even the stars won’t be able to bring her back.

How NOT to write a leading female protagonist!
Revisado: 02-05-24
I was really hoping that this story would make me forget that Scarlett is written like a toddler living in and adult body with an adolescent sex drive. Sadly, this was not the case. Half way through book 3 I DNF.
Scarlett has to be one of the dumbest characters I’ve ever read. She makes zero sense. She makes bad decisions right and left and never learns her lesson or grows as a character.
The whole story and environment felt like a recycled ACOTAR fan fiction.

Historia
Shipwrecked and imprisoned thanks to an incorrect map, Captain Morgan Davies has returned to London to exact sweet revenge on the cartographer responsible for his suffering. He's also vowed to claim the winner's prize—three kisses—in the bet he made with his long-time nemesis, the prickly, smart-mouthed Harriet Montgomery. His incarceration has clarified his feelings for her, but convincing the infuriating woman he wants to marry her is going to be his greatest challenge yet.

Loved the first, liked the second, undecided about this one.
Revisado: 06-21-23
If anyone has read the first book, they will likely have spotted a pretty significant plot hole in book 3.
Also, I feel every character needs to be seen by a cardiologist stat! Hearts skipping beats, thumping, fluttering all over the place, etc. Perhaps they should lay off the tea!

Need a part 2!!
Revisado: 02-21-23
Julia’s writing is exquisite as usual! Sarah was one my absolute favorite characters from the Jacobite Chronicles and I am so glad (and sad) to read her origin story…HOWEVER…there needs to be a part 2! I’m dying to learn more about her life along side Beth and when she meets Duncan and after Màiri is born!

What a mess!
Revisado: 10-02-21
I NEVER WRITE REVIEWS, but this book drove me to it!
This book had SO much potential but fell sadly short for me. How I presented this book is as follows:
“Hey girls! If any of you are into poorly written leading female characters who constantly make poor decisions that harm other characters and spreads her legs for nearly every guy who does something nice for her…I have the perfect book for you!”
That pretty much sums up my feelings.

My new favorite book?
Revisado: 09-26-20
Funny story. I attempted to read this book about 3 years ago during a difficult time in my life as I waited in a loud and crowded waiting room while I waited to submit my application for food stamps. I couldn’t get into the book. (This isn’t the first Susanna Kearsley book I didn’t jive with on the first go). I didn’t make it past the part where they spread the ashes.
I ended up returning the book and put it out of my mind. Fast forward to present day. I have just finished a couple of her other books and realizing I am in love with her writing style, I decided to give this book a second chance! I am so very glad I did!
Susanna Kearsley is absolute author goals! Well written, with elements of light heartedness, tragedy, mystery, and compelling romance! What’s not to love?
