Historia
In The Madness of Crowds Douglas Murray investigates the dangers of ‘woke’ culture and the rise of identity politics. In lively, razor-sharp prose he examines the most controversial issues of our moment: sexuality, gender, technology and race, with interludes on the Marxist foundations of ‘wokeness’, the impact of tech and how, in an increasingly online culture, we must relearn the ability to forgive.

Another excellent critic of society by Douglas Murray
Revisado: 01-13-25
Based on reason, facts and foresight of long-term effects and consequences of woke agendas that are spreading in Western society like cancer, thanks to institutional and corporate cowardice, greed and virtue signalling.
Eloquent, well written conversation. Never inflammatory. If you are proponent of woke, take chance on this book, you have nothing to lose, only gain ... if nothing else, new perspective.

Historia
John Churchill, the Duke of Marlborough (1644-1722), was one of the greatest military commanders and statesmen in the history of England. Victorious in the Battles of Blenheim (1704) and Ramillies (1706) and countless other campaigns, Marlborough, whose political intrigues were almost as legendary as his military skill, never fought a battle he didn't win. Marlborough also bequeathed the world another great British military strategist and diplomat, his descendant, Winston S. Churchill.

Amazing details from very significant part of history
Revisado: 07-31-24
I've listen a lot, but narrator for this one was perfect. As for historic account of life of John Churchill it's amazing story how ordinary men shape course of history. It's well investigated and supported by facts, letters and documents. Regardless that from the outset it's said that Winston Churchill had goal to clear his relatives reputation, I never had feeling that anything other than factual approach was taken. I did not read other authors but I can easily understand that partisanship approach to recording history can result in smears and defamation. Overall, what I enjoyed the most are details written in letters by the people that lived 300 years ago (which seams so distant time today) which faced same hardship, dilemma and personal challenges in life just like we do today regardless of technological advancement. This details bring them back to life and makes them relatable just as if they are our contemporaries and feel connected to them even today.

Interesting but too long and too poetic
Revisado: 08-26-23
Book has it's moments, but I feel that it could have been compressed into 5-6 hours of action packed listening, instead of 12 hours. I always listen audio books while driving to work, and I rarely have problems with concentrating on what's being read. However narrator has a kind of husky voice that seamed that he was whispering even when talking out loud. Due to that, I had a lot of difficult to concentrate. This was exacerbated in sections when factual events (sorties) were broken down by authors internal dialogue which is written in very poetic form. Abridged format would probably be good idea.

The mighty, iconic A-10 Warthog was first thrust into battle in Operation Desert Storm. The men who took it through walls of flak and surface-to-air missiles to help defeat the world's fourth-largest army were as untested as their airplanes, so they relied on personal determination and the amazing A-10 to accomplish their missions, despite the odds.

It is interesting book if you are patient listener
Revisado: 07-31-23
Don't expect another "Viper pilot".
This book is a diary type of memoire in which you get to hear not only high adrenaline parts of war time air combat, but also about days when little to nothing happens due to weather or technical issues. It also tells about time after war ends and before squadron moves back home.
Book starts slow, as you would expect in day-by-day diary type entries.
There's unexpected personal part about a girl that really gives this book very personal, sincere and touch. You don't expect that in a fighter pilot's diary, but really it's most humane thing to expect even in wartime.
It was worth the listen.

Historia
In this major statement, the renowned international-relations scholar John Mearsheimer argues that liberal hegemony, the foreign policy pursued by the United States since the Cold War ended, is doomed to fail. It makes far more sense, he maintains, for Washington to adopt a more restrained foreign policy based on a sound understanding of how nationalism and realism constrain great powers abroad.

Excellent, must read book!
Revisado: 05-16-23
The Great Delusion should be must read for anyone who is trying to understand or is working in international politics. Book is very well organized, ideas are presented very clearly and author makes good work of support it's claims.
Book helped me grasp subtle differences between liberal hegemony, realist policies and nationalism and has definitely helped to refine my views on international politics, de cluttering and clearing the remainders of liberal hegemony ideology in my political views.
Sadly I can conclude that in my case mainstream media was significant force for evil and deception, and probably makes journey of any layman towards realist politics more difficult, while defending crusading impulses by virtue signaling left wing politics.
Also, considering that mainstream media and liberal elites always paint nationalism as force of evil, this book helped me understand why nationalism is force to be reckoned and how it can be force for good. I had gut feeling that nationalism was unjustly portrayed as force for evil and that it's one of main forces of nation-making (I know, it's obvious) but was I unable to come up with argument in defense of positive side of nationalism on my own.
In any case, this book is one of best reads I had on audible and I read a lot.

Book that inspired Sakichi Toyoda
Revisado: 07-15-21
I looked up this book because I learned that it inspired Sakichi Toyoda.
Listening to this book, you can't but notice stark difference from people that lived and were working to improve their world and living conditions 150 years ago and today's generations which was sold lie that everyone of them is special and that they can change the world just by being special.
This book showcases some excellent examples how hard work, dedication, perseverance and humbleness can improve life and conditions of individuals, nations and ultimately whole world. We are missing such messages today in our education system. Parents need to take charge and remedies where schools are failing today.
Book message can be summed up in quote: "when boats were made of wood, men were made of steel".... with additional realization that today, men are increasingly made of wood, if not clay.

Historia
Radical liberals want to make America a better place, but their utopian social engineering leads, ironically, to greater human suffering. From Karl Marx to Barack Obama, Horowitz shows how the idealistic impulse to make the world a better place gives birth to the twin cultural pathologies of cynicism and nihilism and is the chief source of human suffering. A former liberal himself, Horowitz recounts his own brushes with radicalism and offers unparalleled insight into the disjointed ideology of liberal elites through case studies of well-known radial leftists, including Christopher Hitchens, feminist Bettina Aptheker, leftist academic Cornel West, and others.

If are listening audiobooks while commuting to work and you are visual type this will be hard topic to ingest. While topic is well organized I feel that performance should be improved in areas where check-lists are presented or bullet-points listed out. Still I was well worth the listen, but I may have to redo it again to get those details when lost trail of though in first listen. Supplement PDF would be great benefit.

I always had that gut feeling ...
Revisado: 02-13-21
I used to look up to Chomsky through my youth as he was touted in media and on university as one of biggest and most influential intellectual of all time. So I listened with curiosity what he had to say... but there was always that gut feeling that something is off...
15 years later, social discourse started sounding very much like all the Chomsky arguments that I listened back in rebellious years. Then I figured it out, what was off was the way in which he dealt with criticism, how he simply brushed it all aside and continued with his agenda through twisting words and meaning of words.
I was quite stunned to be able to source today problems our society faces to same relativism he was expressing for decades. (well, silly me...)
When you have to deal with adult that self-describes as anarchy-syndicalist you should know from start who you are dealing with. Problem is that media never truly challenged him on his topic where he was... in past 50 years... to say the least controversial, like downplaying Khmer Rouge atrocities, to serve his agenda and personal beliefs.
This book really shattered last piece of credibility that I would have been willing to extend towards Chomsky. Thanks to authors for having courage to write this book, knowing what backlash it could produce against them.

The Strange Death of Europe is a highly personal account of a continent and culture caught in the act of suicide. Declining birth rates, mass immigration, and cultivated self-distrust and self-hatred have come together to make Europeans unable to argue for themselves and incapable of resisting their own comprehensive alteration as a society and an eventual end.

our culture is worth standing up for
Revisado: 01-17-21
We need to ensure that politicians hear people that vote them in and recognize that we have right to stand up and speak up that brought up the civilization to which all migrants flock to live in. we built it, we have word to say how it will continue, regardless is this popular among EU bureaucracy echo chambers.
this is what this book is in short summary. listen to it even if you think you are informed and that media did not manage to hide facts from you. you will be better informed for sure.
after listening to the book, realize that all you need to do is activate in local politics and be heard instead of being gagged and "allowed" to finance this cultural ruin.
