I liked the story, but if you are going to have a computer do tbe reading, teach it how to pronounce words properly. To wit:
Athame - “a’-tha-mae”
Hecate - “heh’-kah-teh”
Its jarring to the ear and detrimental to enjoyment of the tale when words are mispronounced.

Gripping complex series

Multidimensional characters and universe with complex story line. Gripping descriptions and action. However, the reader leaves much to be desired. His pronunciation is atrocious (ex: he says Miergo instead of Murgo) and seems to think that all large fighters are mentally deficient and talk like mongoloid children. But even his performance couldn’t ruin this excellent tale.

It was a lovely trip going through the world of the torrent witches. The stories were interesting enough to keep my attention but not so complex I lost track of what was going on. The characters were very three-dimensional and she managed to do all of this without buckets of gore, or having people jumping into bed every 30 seconds. Well done!

I only have two, tiny little annoyances. One was that the performer had a tendency to speak fast and slur her words together, which made some of the characters, less understandable than others. The other was the author’s seeming obsession with male “scruffiness“. I like a bit of scruff as well as the next girl, but I don’t feel that it needed to be mentioned every single time a man came in to view.

Overall, it was an excellent read.

I don’t care how you pronounce things as long as they are consistent from one book to the next. You would think a professional reader would have the courtesy to the readers and the author to learn the correct pronunciation of words like “Ley lines” as well as how the character names were previously pronounced so that she could do them with some consistency. Unfortunately, this author did not have that courtesy and it really detracted from my listening experience. Too bad because I love the stories.

I love the authors and the stories and most of the performances. The one exception was “The Warrior”. I am unsure where the reader got the idea that Harry Dresden would have had a southern accent of any kind, having been born and bred in Chicago, but he certainly read it that way, and it ruined the story for me. Well, I will admit James Marsters is the ultimate Harry Dresden, I have heard others read him and read him well. This, however, was not one of those times.

I love these stories but the performer’s total inability to song on key is so painful it causes me severe anxiety and I have to skip past the songs and so miss a good deal. Please get someone else to sing. She is exceptional at everything else.

As always I love the writing and the reading performance. The only fly in the ointment is the reader’s unfortunate belief ghat she can sing. She cannot and her attempts are painful to those with trained ears. She is, however, a consummate reading performer. I shall continue to listen to her work albeit skipping her musical offerings.

Narrator singing ruined book

Just because a person can read well and narrates the story beautifully, does not mean that they can sing and well. Gilbert and Sullivan does not require a trained operatic voice. It does require, at least the ability to hold a tune and stay on key, which, unfortunately, this narrator cannot do, I would’ve preferred either to not have the music at all or to have inserted a recording but for someone who can sing and appreciates good singing, the narrators screeching off key voice was horribly distracting and irritating. She’s a wonderful narrator I love to listen to her read the book, but please do not let her sing!

This collection is the most complete I’ve ever seen with excellent performances that are consistent and recognizable from story to story. They really bring the stories to life. If you are a Sherlock Holmes fan this is a must have collection for your library.
