Historia
Locked behind bars for three years, Shadow did his time, quietly waiting for the day when he could return to Eagle Point, Indiana. A man no longer scared of what tomorrow might bring, all he wanted was to be with Laura, the wife he deeply loved, and start a new life. But just days before his release, Laura and Shadow's best friend are killed in an accident. With his life in pieces and nothing to keep him tethered, Shadow accepts a job from a beguiling stranger he meets on the way home, an enigmatic man who calls himself Mr. Wednesday.

Fascinating book
Revisado: 08-20-16
Loved listening to this book but I'm not even sure I get the full meaning of it. It's almost like NG wrote it deliberately so that the book means to the reader what gods mean to their believers or even the non-believers like me - whatever you see there is what it is. Couldn't put it down!

Historia
A Nobel Peace Prize recipient beatified by the Catholic Church in 2003, Mother Teresa of Calcutta was celebrated by heads of state and adored by millions for her work on behalf of the poor. In his measured critique, Hitchens asks only that Mother Teresa's reputation be judged by her actions - not the other way around. With characteristic élan and rhetorical dexterity, Hitchens eviscerates the fawning cult of Teresa, recasting the Albanian missionary as a spurious, despotic, and megalomaniacal operative.

Historia
On the right side of the law. Sort of. Sebastian Rudd is not your typical street lawyer. He works out of a customized bulletproof van, complete with Wi-Fi, a bar, a small fridge, fine leather chairs, a hidden gun compartment, and a heavily armed driver. He has no firm, no partners, no associates, and only one employee: his driver, who's also his bodyguard, law clerk, confidant, and golf caddy.

Just terrible
Revisado: 11-09-15
If all I wanted to do was hear about how stupidity in a client can aggravate a good lawyer, I would just talk to my colleagues over a drink. This book does nothing for me and I suspect the potential stupid client won't get the message either. I'm disappointed!

Couldn't out it down
Revisado: 10-17-15
Some of the foreshadowing was too simplistic and gave details away when they might have been held back for better effect. However, the overall story was as great as the first 3. Amazing job, in my opinion. I didn't want to part with it when it ended.

Discover magazine recently called Richard Dawkins "Darwin's Rottweiler" for his fierce and effective defense of evolution. Prospect magazine voted him among the top three public intellectuals in the world (along with Umberto Eco and Noam Chomsky). Now Dawkins turns his considerable intellect on religion, denouncing its faulty logic and the suffering it causes.

Revisado: 07-22-15
Intelligent, passionate and honest. Easy to read and east to follow because that's what the message is. The narration reflects all the beauty of the book in the best possible way. Everyone must read this book. It must be taught in school in grade 4.

The worst piece of garbage!
Revisado: 05-03-15
The only praise this author gets from me is to the effect that you've got to have some talent to write a whole book full of characters, none of whom have a single redeeming quality. Can you imagine a book where you are not happy or sad or anxious for anyone? Well, here's an experience for you. No plot, no real story line, no character development. Just the worst of trailer trash. No reason at all why all these people had to be plus size unless that was just insult to injury. If course, not to mention that I can't imagine any black person being grateful for being associated with this crap! I want my money back!

Horrifyingly human - mandatory reading
Revisado: 09-28-12
Beautiful, ugly, horrifying and to be permanently etched in your head. Should be mandatory for every white person, especially if you've ever thought that something going on too far away from your own world can be scary for just a minute but forgotten before your next meal. Robin Miles does some sort of magic with her reading of this book and the author is to be praised for the amazing job of being able to write something so real. I can't remember the last time I was this impressed with a book.

Historia
> The Chaperone is a captivating novel about the woman who chaperoned an irreverent Louise Brooks to New York City in 1922, and the summer that would change them both. Only a few years before becoming a famous actress and an icon for her generation, a 15-year-old Louise Brooks leaves Wichita to make it big in New York. Much to her annoyance, she is accompanied by a thirty-six-year-old chaperone who is neither mother nor friend. Cora Carlisle is a complicated but traditional woman with her own reasons for making the trip.

I wouldn't read it again
Revisado: 08-28-12
A strange kind of book. Well intentioned, obviously wanting to hit all the right nerves of social justice issues but not really hitting the spot - ever. I found it kind of irritating, to be honest. Never had that feeling of "gotta listen to the end". I'm not a writer but Laura Moriarty must have skipped a few classes herself, or just doesn't have that ability to kick the reader in the stomach.
