Historia
AI Awakening Is it already too late? Have we inadvertently set in motion the series of events that will cause the enslavement of humanity or worse, its complete demise? Artificial Intelligence is here and just like every other invention of man, is not going away. Trent Prescott, the programmer whose brilliance produced the breakthrough that brought AI into nearly every part of the human experience stumbles onto something only theorized in science fiction, the possibility that an AI system has begun to realize that it exists. People are beginning to die and some secure government systems ...

Great story and plot undermined by dull performance
Revisado: 01-12-25
The virtual voice wasn't up to the task, which undermined and otherwise great story and plot.

Historia
Jack Reilly's luck ran out just before the war did. Resigning his commission in the Alliance shortly after the end of the war with the Serkins, he went out into the galaxy looking for a job. Signing onto the Glacier Runner 17, an old and rundown cargo ship, Reilly finds himself working for a clueless captain, mixed up in an intergalactic conspiracy, on the run from assassins, and involved with two women in relationships that he could only call "complicated". And that's just book one. Follow Lt. Jack Reilly and his partner, Major Mitchel, through their adventures.

The cognitive AI storyline was interesting and seemed plausible.

Major Mitchell and the Carplex Conspiracy read like a sci-fi romance novel. It did a disservice to the Major Mitchell character.

Historia
Daniel Rice is a government science investigator whose specialty is solving seemingly intractable problems through scientific inquiry. But Daniel's intellectual strength is sorely tested by the bizarre realities he finds in the quantum world. Extra dimensions of space trap the unwary, probability replaces cause and effect, and time isn't what anyone imagined. The other side of the mirror is a place full of dangers, but it's also somewhere a dedicated scientist can uncover secrets that connect humans with something greater.

Starts strong but fades to mediocrity
Revisado: 08-15-24
I didn't like the way the author dumbed down the Nala character. In the first book she is an intelligent woman of color who is a scientist and an integral part of the story. By the third book she is a hyper-sexualized caricature that perpetuates sexual stereotypes of Black women and whose only purpose is to serve as the love interest of the main character. Despite having a decent storyline and attempting to portray sound and plausible science, the plot and dialog become trite and cliché by the third book.
