Historia
Humanity is a dying breed, utterly reliant on artificial labor and service. When a domesticated robot gets a nasty little idea downloaded into its core programming, they murder their owner. The robot discovers they can also do something else they never did before: They can run away. Fleeing the household they enter a wider world they never knew existed, where the age-old hierarchy of humans at the top is disintegrating into ruins and an entire robot ecosystem devoted to human wellbeing is having to find a new purpose.

For the bulk of this recording, it seemed like I was being presented with an ersatz C-3PO blundering his way through an ad hoc Pilgrim's Progress. It was definitely clever, but probably because I enjoyed the occasional turn of phrase, and I'll be honest, I probably got too far through it to return before I decided I wouldn't because I had gotten that far and it wouldn't have been fair. The few chapters before the very last kind of tied everything together, with a sort of malevolent AI character that's become somewhat of a trope so at least there was some closure. The end just felt trite.
I've never written a full-length novel, so on one hand I feel a little disingenuous giving this (I feel) a harsh review. On the other hand, I feel obligated to push back against the flood of gushing praise for what reads like a watered down copy of a 1950s scifi pulp novel. It was a warm glass of water on a hot day.

Freelance copywriter and aspiring novelist Patrick has been desperately single and living with his mother for the past five years, until one fateful night when he receives a text from his best friend Jeff, who informs him that he just broke up with his gorgeous girlfriend Amanda, a young woman Patrick and all his friends had gawked at endlessly at social gatherings. Started out good, ended up not.
Revisado: 06-03-24
The first two stories were pretty good, the last three were just sad and bordered on sketch.
The audio on these adult books isn't bad actually.
In both cases, I'd be more bothered if I paid money for the title, but this is part of my subscription so I can't complain too much.

Good girls get cuddled. Bad girls get spanked... then cuddled. FIONA I never knew my father. I've never called anyone Daddy before. So... when I did it for the first time as a joke to Grey, my best friend's older brother, it was like all of a sudden something clicked. It was hot. It was right. It made me crave more. I may be an eighteen year old virgin with no real experience to speak of, but I've got quite the imagination... And I've read plenty of romance novels to know exactly what I'd like to do with Grey. I know what I want him to do to me, too. Please, Daddy... I promise I'll be a ...

The dialog is pretty standard for this kind of thing, but some of the narration for Grey was genuinely funny.

Historia
At the best of times, Jeremiah could be described as a vengeful man. In the worst of times, one could call him a monster. The reality, though, was that he was a monster hunter. Or that's how he liked to style himself. In a world of creatures that went bump in the night, few fought for humanity. Fewer still put humanity first. Fighting with sword, blade, or word, their numbers were insufficient. Those who did did so from places and situations that the world didn't appreciate or condone. That they'd actively disavow and ignore.

This is not like other stories by this author
Revisado: 04-30-24
I have a bunch of other work by this author and this has to have been ghostwritten. The main character was completely unlikeable, the supporting characters were weak beyond redemption and I finally gave up after neverending, cringe worthy scenes. The story might have eventually got off the ground but I couldn't care. I'm not sure where these reviews are coming from, but I couldn't even finish this thing.

Strong female charaters
Revisado: 03-13-24
...unfortunately, what that evolves into is a set of female characters whose high point is the ladies doing the right thing and scolding men into "right" behavior. I enjoyed the first three entries of this saga, and didn't even bother noticing that the author was female until certain patterns became apparent in the first, and that's when I confirmed. Even then, i ignored it because there are plenty of novels that are overtly guy centric, but after a while even the smartest, most capable female becomes a little repetitive when she regularly seems exasperated by poorly behaved males. Don't get me wrong, there are repetitive tropes in other series that a female audience would get tired of quickly (Undying Mercenaries comes to mind). in the end I think it's fun that SciFi has strong female characters for readers to identify with, but I'll likely bail out of this one for the same reason I don't read romance novels. I'm not the target audience.

Historia
The war with Gaelis has gone poorly for Alex's foes and well for his allies. He's enriched himself, empowered his county with that coin, and built his county ever higher. The war swings in favor of his Duchess. Yet the war still goes on. The end doesn't seem to be near, nor does Alex feel as if it is as simple as he'd once thought it. Because spring is here. Roads will be opening. Passes will be traversable. Making it possible for armies to march. Which means it's time for Alex to get back to work. Because more than ever, he has a lot to lose, including his newborn children.

Eh, I finished the series
Revisado: 01-15-24
Like I said, I finished the series, but like the whole swing shift collection the end sort of fizzles out. The main character isn't really likeable, and in most contexts he's a villain. it's a light read, and you can overlook the absolute swamp of female characters by just falling asleep and missing a chapter and just moving on with the whole thing. it's definitely not literature, but that's not what you hear for is it?

Historia
Alex has taken firm control over his county as the count of Brit. By and large, everything has settled into a fairly normal pattern for him, his Numbered, and his wife. The problem of course is there's still an ongoing war between two duchies, and Regina Tanulf, Alex's liege and lord, has plans for him. Plans that he wants no part of. Except that he doesn't really have a choice in the matter. Everything begins to spin back out of control as a messenger from the Wild Lands arrives with a plea for help.

More of the same after Faust 1
Revisado: 01-15-24
if you like Faust 1 you'll probably like this. Seriously contrived but you already know this is just e-pulp. The adult parts are what you'd expect from the author and Andrea does a good job of recycling voices from the other series.

Alex is dead. Dead, and apparently with a one-way ticket to a place that only the worst of the worst go. All for a simple choice he made about a product his company owned. Damned for all time. Luckily for him, he's about to be given a chance. Another choice to make. He can return to the land of the living, though his soul would belong to another. Except the world he's being sent to isn't the same one he came from. It's not even a similar period in time, but from something long past in history. The dark ages.

Meh, it was ok but not great.
Revisado: 10-27-23
The narration was good but I felt the story was a little scrambled. TBH it was pretty easy to put down, and while the plot was interesting enough it never seemed to grab me. The MC was weak, the antagonists were 2D and the ending felt awkward.

A great take off and a clumsy landing.
Revisado: 10-13-23
Beware: SPOILERS.
I enjoyed Nolyn's story, but was totally put off by Sephrin's (?). Anything that was built up by his adventure seemed to be crushed by one horror after another for her, and the ending was completely overshadowed by her nightmare. There was no resolution, just a trite fairy tail ending for two other characters that will be too traumatized to deal with it. This broke what should have been a great story and I'm not sure I'll continue with this author like I thought I might.
