Historia
Hi! I'm Tori Madison, and I hate scrubbing toilets, which is unfortunate because my BFF Hazel and I own Bubbles and Troubles, Blueberry Bay's premier cleaning service. When Mrs. Livingston asked us to sort through the contents of her attic, however, we thought our toilet-scrubbing days were over. That is...until we found her corpse. As if finding our client's body stuffed in a steamer trunk wasn't enough of an upset, someone needed to save her cat from being sent to a local high-kill animal shelter. That person, as it turned out, was me.

enjoyable, mostly
Revisado: 10-05-24
The plot arc was good although I would have wished for better characters developed. The major draw back of the dialogue was the extreme over use of the slang "wicked".

Historia
Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

I stumbled upon Lily Church works early last year and instantly fell in love with her style. Drop Dead is a wonderful addition to her works. this wholehearted and sometimes humorous story is a wonderful escape into the enemies to lovers genre.

Enjoyable ear candy
Revisado: 09-06-24
I found this to be an endearing story. Although the story depicted a caregiver little lifestyle, it didn't come across as cringy or inappropriate.
The story arc was good for the the length of the book and I didn't find the AI narration to be too distracting.

I get why people like this author
Revisado: 06-08-24
I understand that people are passionate about what they believe, and honestly I do not have an issue with that. I appreciate the thoughtful storytelling and correspondence narrative however this seems more of a conversion tool to evangelical Christianity than Christian apologetics. throughout the book the author consistently offers a binary, "You're looking at it wrong so you have to admit that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior" many times the explanation Dr Boyd offers as one or the other has more than two options for explanation. A good example of this is regarding the explanation of the resurrection. if we can historically agree that Jesus of Nazareth was resurrected, that doesn't leave the only explanation that he is Christ, the promised Messiah. The other disturbing philosophical hole in the entire book is the let's just ignore all the parts of the Bible that are we are inconsistent and unpalatable. My hesitation of faith is that a large majority of the teachings and principles contained with the Christian Bible are also contained in several other world religions that the author is quick to dismiss because his perspective comes from that of one of a believer. All that being said, I still would recommend this book to a Evangelical Christian who is wanting to be more grounded in their own apologetics.

Historia
Few topics are more contested today than gender identity. Complex issues like gender dysphoria are reduced to slogans and sound bites. And while the war rages over language, institutions, and political allegiances, transgender individuals are the ones who end up being the casualties. Mark Yarhouse, an expert in sexual identity and therapy, challenges the church to rise above the political hostilities and listen to people's stories. Yarhouse offers a Christian perspective on transgender issues that eschews simplistic answers and appreciates the psychological and theological complexity.

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

Hard story not to love
Revisado: 05-28-22
This was a blind recommendation from a good friend who knows how much I love good characters. Dugoni masterfully tell a story of a man's struggle with a condition he can't change and circumstances he can, the love of a mother and patient faith. this will be a story that will linge in my mind for a long time. The audio production and narration was fantastic and added greatly to my enjoyment.
