Okay, so the books are always better than the movie, but this one is so different it really blew my mind the first time I read it after only knowing the movie.
Love both stories, but I listen to the book when I want a stronger female lead and watch the movie when I want a bit more romance.

Yes, the small Alabama town is populated with more than its share of odd people, and she did have a flat tire on her way into town and hallucinate Bigfoot crossing the road, which made for less than a stellar start. But the library is fantastic, her new house is charming, and the hot local writer keeps crossing her path.

While the story started off a bit slow, what it lacked in speed it made up for in pace. Everything happened at great intervals! The characters were cute, the hunter obnoxious as he was meant to be. Overall, a good read!

A Long-Time Favorite

I first read The Black Unicorn in high school. I loved it as a paperback and enjoyed it again as a listen. Terry Brooks blends fantasy, action, adventure, and a dash of romance in just the right amounts. Wonderful story!

30’s pretty young to have a mid-life crisis, but that’s just where Mary finds herself after her birthday party turns her world upside-down. Searching for answers and questioning everything she thought she knew, she realizes that those she’s taken for granted can disappear in an instant. She knows she has to reevaluate her priorities, but with multiple upheavals threatening her peace of mind, she wavers until the water begins to boil.
This was a great novel. Though the ending was abrupt, it didn’t steal away the sweetness of the story. I definitely recommend.

Heartbreaking

This story is truly heartbreaking. I could not listen to it all in one sitting and broke it up over several months. Ashley Massaro sounds like a wonderful person who was chewed up and spit out like a piece of gum that lost its flavor, then left on the side of the road to decompose. My heart breaks for everyone who knew her personally, but most of all, my heart breaks for Ashley.
She deserved better.

It's opera - where the music matters, and where an opera house is being terrorised by a man in evening dress with a white mask, lurking in the shadows, occasionally killing people, and, most worryingly, sending little notes, writing maniacal laughter with five exclamation marks. Opera can do that to a man. In such circumstances, life has obviously reached that desperate point where the wrong thing to do has to be the right thing to do.

I love this book - at least I love the printed version. Purchasing this Audible version, I wondered how Perdita’s audition would be handled. Unfortunately, the best parts were skipped. I feel like I’ve just watched the movie version of the book and they clipped all the fun parts short. As usual, the original book was *MUCH* better.
The performance was good; the different voices entertaining. I never thought Nanny would sound like that, but it makes sense considering the state of her teeth.

Love and War don’t go hand-in-hand, but with this series, they certainly do!
It was so hard to put this series down, and I certainly didn’t want it to end. Sky’s story was so sweet, Ryder’s was a beautiful memorial, Pax’s so unexpected, Ash’s was heartbreaking and tear-jerking, and Kade’s funny and sweet as well.
Through it all we see the characters grow and thrive, even though some of them have such harsh hands dealt to them, even if it was by their own hands...
Between the fast pace, the steamy sex, and amazing plot, I would definitely recommend!

Hidden beneath the syrupy happy voice of the narrator was some decent information, but only about 30 minutes was actual information dedicated to the topic. The rest was promotion of other books.
If you are a beginner, this will give you a brief hint about spirit guides, but if you are not a beginner, don’t bother.
