Historia
A dark history lingers in Chapel Croft. Five hundred years ago, local Protestant martyrs were betrayed - then burned. Thirty years ago, two teenage girls disappeared without a trace. And a few weeks ago, the vicar of the local parish hanged himself in the nave of the church. Reverend Jack Brooks, a single parent with a fourteen-year-old daughter and a heavy conscience, arrives in the village hoping for a fresh start. Instead, Jack finds a town rife with conspiracies and secrets, and is greeted with a strange welcome package.

Historia
When two marines and their corpsman reunite after a decade apart, they find themselves caught up in the mystery of their former squad leader’s disappearance. With little more to go on than a handful of disturbing charcoal sketches and the whispers of a local legend, they plunge into the depths of one of America’s last truly wild places. But the trees themselves begin to whisper dark secrets. Secrets of trafficking and violence. Of rotten science and blood. Of something else that lurks in the shadows of the pines—something ancient, savage, and hungry.

Fans of The Conjuring and The Amityville Horror will love this chilling new novel unraveling the tale of a family haunted by the ghosts of their malevolent ancestors’ disturbing past. The decrepit well has been a fountain of terror for generations, an abyss of dread that emits tragedy and death like fog. Historia
When Mouse’s dad asks her to clean out her dead grandmother's house, she says yes. After all, how bad could it be? Answer: pretty bad. Grandma was a hoarder, and her house is stuffed with useless rubbish. That would be horrific enough, but there’s more - Mouse stumbles across her step-grandfather’s journal, which at first seems to be filled with nonsensical rants...until Mouse encounters some of the terrifying things he described for herself.

Loved it so much I bought the hardcopy for my adult kids. At my age, I have slowed down to smell the roses but not at this level. So much to learn. I hope my kids will appreciate this advice at their current age.

Historia
For years as an award-winning war reporter, Sebastian Junger traveled to many front lines and frequently put his life at risk. And yet, the closest he ever came to death was the summer of 2020 while spending a quiet afternoon at the New England home he shared with his wife and two young children. Crippled by abdominal pain, Junger was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. Once there, he began slipping away. As blackness encroached, he was visited by his dead father, inviting Junger to join him.

Fascinating
Revisado: 05-26-24
It never stops annoying me how mankind still thinks is the center of the universe. I know I am being simplistic buy being a mother of physicist at MIT, keeps me wondering when mankind will stop this way of thinking. Yes we have learned a lot but I feel there is a lot we will never fully understand. Schrödinger’s Cat theory has always fascinated me. This author's description that something doesn't exist until "I" or "we" as in humanity see it always makes me cringe. Such arrogance. There must be other answers humanity is or will never grasp. If humanity was that important, we really suck! We can't even solve problems we do see.
However, I do agree with the author that we will finally understand when we leave this reality.
