Historia
In A Kid from Marlboro Road, past and present intermingle as family stories are told and retold. The narrative careens between the prior generation’s colorful sojourns in the Bronx and Hell’s Kitchen and the softer world of Gibson, the town on Long Island where they live now. There are scenes in the Rockaways, at Belmont racetrack, and in Montauk. Edward Burns’s buoyant first novel is a bildungsroman, yet out of one boy’s story a collective warmth emerges, a certain kind of American tale, raucous and joyous.

Revisado: 02-23-24
I found this book on Audible and decided to try it. Wow! This book is incredible with so many hilarious stories of Herb growing up in the dirty 30's and into the 40's. Perfect narration made it even better! I have about an hour left of this story but had to write a review bc it's just so good!. I still want to know where that donkey went.

Revisado: 02-09-24
I only listened to this on Audible bc it was free, I'm not going to pay for a virtual voice narration. But I tell you what, this story is simply amazing and one of the best memoirs I have ever listened to in my life! If the author ever decides to get a real person to narrate I will buy it in a heartbeat. The AI narration isn't robotic at all and actually pretty good but this story deserves someone like RC Bray to narrate.
