Historia
Just when Glennon Doyle Melton was beginning to feel she had it all figured out - three happy children, a doting spouse, and a writing career so successful that her first book catapulted to the top of the New York Times best seller list - her husband revealed his infidelity and she was forced to realize that nothing was as it seemed. A recovering alcoholic and bulimic, Glennon found that rock bottom was a familiar place. In the midst of crisis, she knew to hold on to what she discovered in recovery: that her deepest pain has always held within it an invitation to a richer life.

Truth is Realest Told
Revisado: 12-07-19
This read brought me to my bare bones, opened me wide up and sat me in my place. Bold and sincerely direct is all I can say about it. The most humble memiors I have read thus far. Feeding to the soul and like warm chicken bone broth, soothing and healing to the deepest of wounds...it's a must read.

Why we think it’s a great listen: There’s no gentle way to put this – Frank McCourt’s performance of Angela’s Ashes is just better than the Pulitzer Prize-winning book. Frank McCourt shares his sometimes heartwarming, sometimes heartbreaking story of growing up poor, Irish, and Catholic in the Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela's Ashes.

Great account of poverty, class, and immigration. Frank wrote down his story of childhood and what could be better than hearing it through his own voice.

Historia
Two men, each handsome and unusually adept at his chosen work, embodied an element of the great dynamic that characterized America’s rush toward the twentieth century. The architect was Daniel Hudson Burnham, the fair’s brilliant director of works and the builder of many of the country’s most important structures, including the Flatiron Building in New York and Union Station in Washington, D.C. The murderer was Henry H. Holmes, a young doctor who, in a malign parody of the White City, built his “World’s Fair Hotel” just west of the fairgrounds.

Historia
Shots rang out in Savannah's grandest mansion in the misty, early morning hours of May 2, 1981. Was it murder or self-defense? For nearly a decade, the shooting and its aftermath reverberated throughout this hauntingly beautiful city of moss-hung oaks and shaded squares. John Berendt's sharply observed, suspenseful, and witty narrative flows like a thoroughly engrossing novel, and yet it is a work of nonfiction.

Savannah's Social Closet
Revisado: 10-27-15
Many things about the history of Savannah and it's social graces were unknown to me until I listened to Jeff Woodman narrate these wonderfully depicted scenes of characters playing out daily (or should I say nightly) life of Savannah's intermingling of classes. The story was intertwined with mystery, murder, and power. The doors kept opening to reveal skeletons of which no character was exempt. Good listen.
