Amy is a little neurotic but overall I enjoyed the story and will check out other books by this author.

I loved listening to the narrator tell this story. This is the story of Lizzy, the midwife. It tells the story of how she survives the durung Revolutionary War after her husband dies.

The story is set in Braintree Mass and it depicts the day-to-day lives of the women left behind. One of Lizzy' S neighbors is Abigal Adams and they become friends.

I didn't really enjoy this story until chapter 6. I think because I expected it to immediately start with how Pino helped Jews escape. The first six chapters is about getting to know Pino and what is happening in Italy at that time. I didn't want to put the story down after chapter six. I enjoyed reading about father Ray and how Pino helped Jews escape over the mountains. I also enjoyed reading about how Pino became a spy. Pino could think on his feet, his mind was sharp and it almost seemed like he was born to be a spy.

The story is set during World War II. It follows the members of the Beecher family. We learn about Jonathan, the father who lost his wife to cancer, his two sons Matthew and Luke and his daughter Mary. We see that each character is not perfect and they each have their own vulnerability and challenges. They are after all human.

Johnathan made a promise to his late wife on her deathbed not to marry again and he believes he has to honor that promise and he works hard to keep his store and keep his promise. Matthew the oldest son left town to try and be more independent. and ends up on an island in the Pacific working as a contractor. Luke the younger son is reckless and joined the army against his father's wishes. Mary, the daughter, marries a man she barely knows and becomes a victim of domestic violence.

The author did do his research and the story does seem to be historically accurate. I had a hard time connecting with Luke or should I say liking the character. He liked to play practical jokes and did things that I thought were horrible in an effort to be liked. In the end he became a changed man and did the honorable thing. I had more of a hard time reading about the domestic violence part than the violence of the war but otherwise liked the story.

Kristen Collings believes she is cursed. She has been unlucky in the love department since 2nd grade. When she meets Aiden she's very cautious. Aiden Scott is immediately interested in Kristen the minute they meet. However, he was asked to take over the company where Kristen works and promised the partners he wouldn't tell anyone until he makes a decision.

I liked both characters. Kristen did seem to be accident prone and a little flighty but likable. She can be a little ditzy when it comes to men but she very good at her job and extremely smart. She has a best friend named Amy. They have been friends since grade school and they tell each other everything. Aiden is thoughtful, loyal, respectful, and basically good guy who also happens to be hot.

This is a light romance but I felt like the author focused more on the sex scenes than character development and romance. It was also very predictable at times. Although it is a simple love story, you do believe that both characters are in love with each other.

This is a story about three sisters who finely learn how to talk to each other and be real sisters. Celeste returns home after her narcissistic mother dies. Celeste doesnt like being home because it reminds her of all the mean things her mom said to her. it's a Story about healing but the healing doesn't happen until the end and even then it's just starting to happen.

The story moves at a very slow pace. I fell asleep quite a few times through the narration. At first I would go back and re-listen to what I missed but eventually I just stopped going back and continued on. I don't blame the narrator for this but the author.

Chase rides into town to tell Jesse that her husband, Nathan, died. Jesse and Chase are forced to marry because Chase spent them some nights at Jesse's. The forced marriage to save Jesse's reputation kind of seemed weird to me because who's to say he didn't spend his nights in the barn or on the rug, out near the fire.

There are lots of misunderstandings between Jesse and Chase. That seems to be what the story is mostly about - the misunderstandings couples have. The story was somewhat entertaining and I did finish the book but it was long and dragged at points.

Anna`s grandfather never talks about his past until a newspaper article in the paper about an abandoned apartment in Paris. Max tells Anna that his family owned an estate in Berlin and that he left something there in 1940 that he needs her to go to Berlin to retrieve.

The story goes back and forth between the present, which in the book is 2010 and the past. This is the second book that I've read that mentions the apartment in Paris. The story mostly focused on Max, Anna`s grandfather and Anna`s determination to find out the truth.

Although I'm not sure I cared for the switching between timelines, the characters were likable and the story was interesting.
