I enjoyed book 1 and 2 but why oh why does anyone hired a female with a child’s voice to read racy sex scenes? Jillian Macie is awful and since she reads book 4 I will not be listening. She has no idea how normal people speak, this book isn’t a melodrama.

I liked they didn’t use Earth as a starting point and that their names were weird.

Sometimes when they were three story lines going and people with similar names on the different missions I got confused and had to re-listen to a few parts a few times. But I enjoyed the whole series.

Oh Mia

Mia Madison, the female narrator, has no business reading erotica. She sounds like she has never had sex and sounds like she is reading her Daddy’s Penthouse in a mocking over dramatic way. Actually, she sounds like the Movie Guy reading a plot. I cringe each time she excitedly announces, Chapter 45! It’s truly awful.

The Narrator

I’m giving credit to the person who wrote the book. Unless they used AI to do that too then ignore all my stars. I wanted to try a virtual voice but I can’t follow the story. All the voices are the same and there is no emotion or expression in the voice. It’s not completely monotone but it might as well be for the value it brings the story. I’m sorry to say I won’t be able to fishing the story and won’t be trying AI voices again for a while yet. I’d prefer to keep talented narrators working than listen to the painful speech of this AI.

I really have to throw in the towel for Amy Rubinate. Unless she is part of a cast I can not listen to one more book. Very unexpressive. Can hardly tell one character from another and awkward pauses. Sorry but I’m out.

Irony

It was a well told well read story and I don’t want to discourage folks for listening. However the irony of this girl power story and the hypocrisy it f the girl telling the sorry stood out. While in their high school they are judged, belittled, not believed and put in their place, this gal is doing the very same to her mother’s new boyfriend. She sees a bumper sticker on his car and without even asking if it’s sticker or perhaps a left over on a used car she judges him and puts him in a box of disgust and almost hate. She is 16 years old and the only thing she knows based on this bumper sticker is what her Mom has taught her and it’s the same
mom who is dating this man. It put me off and I really wanted to leave a nasty review and stop listening but I was enjoying the rest of the story. The girl does soften and see things differently eventually but she displayed the classic I’m doing what’s right based on my feelings and you are wrong based on not knowing you at all. It’s too bad because it’s a nice little story otherwise although a bit too long.

This author has done this time and time again. She writes as if someone else wrote the other chapters and she doesn’t know what has been determined. It’s freaking annoying

The Chief?

Period piece

The narrator reminds me of 1950 documentary voices. The story of this hurricane can be found in many places, this short story is a small Kodak moment of a few people’s lives and losses. It’s an appetizer for us to seek out more and learn more. Short stories are not meant to be full documentaries. It’s remarkable the intensity our hurricanes used to have and how grateful we should all be that the study of hurricanes and weather in general has matured and ultimately saved probably a million lives by now.
