Historia
"This tale of seduction, obsession, and murder will resonate with fans of Patricia Highsmith. The pace is fast, the prose is smooth, and the plot genuinely twisty." "She felt no remorse for drawing blood. In the context of their relationship, it had its place." For Max and Laurel, nothing is off limits when they meet in room 553. Their illicit affair is exhilarating, passionate--and dangerous. Driven as much by compulsion as pleasure, Max can't stop. His mistress is Jesus on the streets, and Satan in the sack. But when things take a sharp and sudden turn for the worse, he finds himself ...

I hate virtual voice!
Revisado: 03-22-25
Virtual voice pretty much ruined the story. No inflection, sentences running into each other, pauses in the wrong place, virtual voice is just terrible! It quite ruined the story.

Way too much reference to God and faith. I can’t deal with listening to a sermon when I’m trying to relax.

I do not like virtual voice
Revisado: 01-26-25
The story was good, comma, however, it was ruined by a virtual voice. There is virtually no inflection, and some of the sentences are difficult to put together because the pauses are in the wrong places or the words are separated.

I have spoken with Taranj Armani many times as she is my grandson’s teacher for which I am forever grateful. Despite all of the tragedies in her life, she shows so much love and caring for the children under her care. This book Chronicles, both the joys and tragedies of her life, and how she grew stronger with each of them. She is truly an amazing person and this is her story. Read it, it will change your life.

One long sex scene
Revisado: 07-28-18
Though there is an underlying story, the sex scenes come fast and furious. Two minutes of story, ten minutes of sex. I cutout all but the two first sex scenes and finished the book in 1 1/2 hours. To much for me, it could have been much better without 3 sex scenes per chapter!!

Historia
Casey Cox’s DNA is all over the crime scene. There’s no use talking to police; they’ve failed her abysmally before. She has to flee before she’s arrested . . . or worse. The truth doesn’t matter anymore. But what is the truth? That’s the question haunting Dylan Roberts, the war-weary veteran hired to find Casey. PTSD has marked him damaged goods, but bringing Casey back can redeem him. Though the crime scene seems to tell the whole story, details of the murder aren’t adding up.

Religious Zealouscy!
Revisado: 05-22-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
After my first 30 minutes of listening, I thought "Wow, this author is religious!". After an hour, " Wow, this author isn't just religious, she's a zealot!". After two hours, I thought " Whoa, I got it all wrong. She is neither of those things. She is just openly mocking the Christian religions!". At that point I turned it off and was glad to be rid of it.
Has Chasing the Sun turned you off from other books in this genre?
Definitely won't be reading this author again!
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator had a rather whinny tone.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
I was really disappointed in the book. I thought the story could have been a good one if every other line wasn't "praise God". Way over the top! Hard to follow the story there was so much preaching!
