It finally got better
Revisado: 03-05-25
I love Jodi Taylor's Chronicles of St Mary's so I expected to love this, and I did... eventually. NGL I almost gave up on it - the main character is such a wimp through about 3/4 of the book. It finally got better and she grew a spine. Going to give book two a try.

Terrible AI Narration
Revisado: 10-31-24
This is the fourth book in the series and by far the worst as far as the Artificial Narration. Story has potential but the delivery ruins it.

Good story - Annoying narration
Revisado: 10-01-24
It's good story about getting do-overs in your life. The narration is irritating. There may be a place for Virtual Voice in the future but it's not ready yet.

Historia
The Bobiverse is a different place in the aftermath of the Starfleet War, and the days of the Bobs gathering in one big happy moot are far behind. There’s anti-Bob sentiment on multiple planets, the Skippies playing with an AI time bomb, and multiple Bobs just wanting to get away from it all. But it all pales compared to what Icarus and Daedalus discover on their 26,000-year journey to the center of the galaxy.

Excellent next installment in the Bobiverse
Revisado: 10-01-24
I have enjoyed all of the Bobiverse stories so far and this one is no exemption. What's a the center of the Universe? What other life forms are out there? With the creativity of Dennis E Taylor and the excellent narration of Ray Porter you can explore the possibilities of their imaginations.

The virtual... voice is... distracting... at best
Revisado: 10-01-24
A sequel to The Many Lives of Ivy Wells... decent story line, but the virtual voice is just annoying. Even at 1.3X the narration is too slow and the pauses are unnatural and irritating.
Edit - I was only halfway through when I wrote the above. The story actually got worse - I have no patience for a dumb main character. Rating adjusted

Good story if you can get past the proselytizing

It really is a very interesting story but I don't enjoy being preached at every other page. My own fault - I missed the "Christian Fiction" on the descriptive.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Animal Neglect and Drug Use
Revisado: 06-14-24
I couldn't get more than a few chapters in. I don't find animal neglect humorous, and I don't find drug use entertaining. Needs trigger warnings. I don't understand the rave reviews this book gets.

Charlie Matthews’ love story begins in a pebble-dashed house in suburban Bolton, at a time when most little boys want to grow up to be Michael Jackson, and girls want to be Princess Di. Remembering the Green Cross Code and getting out of football are the most important things in his life until Auntie Jan gives him a gift that will last a lifetime: a seven-inch single called "Lucky Star"....

Just couldn't get past the narration
Revisado: 01-05-24
The accent was tough but the rhythm made it impossible to enjoy. It was like a 12 year old trying to convince me every word he says is important. (Don't have a better way to describe it, sorry) It was a good idea for a story, but just not for me as an audiobook.
