Historia
When five New Yorkers receive an anonymous, mysterious invitation to the Fifth Avenue Story Society, they suspect they’re victims of a practical joke. No one knows who sent the invitations or why. No one has heard of the literary society. And no one is prepared to reveal their deepest secrets to a roomful of strangers. Yet curiosity and loneliness bring them back week after week to the old library. And it’s there they discover the stories of their hearts, and the kind of friendship and love that heals their souls.

Couldn't make it pst the 6th chapter

Not just an occasional political statement but a constant political statement. If I wanted a political book I would have gotten one, I was looking for a nice uplifting book for the Christmas holiday, not the author's political views. Enough alread!

My new favorite Christmas book
Revisado: 12-13-24
WOW! What a great story of the true spirit of Christmas. Yes, it is the typical romance story. The best part is the setting story of showing love and kindness to others for no potential reward except to make people happy. Such an uplifting book!

Historia
Life in Spruce Crossing, Montana is as predictable as the changing seasons—until a handsome stranger, Mason Adler, breezes into town. On a snowy evening, our paths unexpectedly collide—literally—when his car slides into mine. The accident leaves Mason with amnesia, unable to remember why he came to our remote mountain town in the first place. As I help Mason recover and rediscover his memories, we find an undeniable chemistry that neither of us can deny. But doubt nags at me. My bruised heart warns me it's only a matter of time before Mason realizes he's too big for this small town—...

The story might be wonderful but the automated narration is painful! I don't recommend wasting your time.

Historia
The Great Recession has shuffled Clay Jannon out of his life as a San Francisco Web-design drone - and serendipity, sheer curiosity, and the ability to climb a ladder like a monkey has landed him a new gig working the night shift at Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore. But after just a few days on the job, Clay begins to realize that this store is even more curious than the name suggests. There are only a few customers, but they come in repeatedly and never seem to actually buy anything....

Clever in some ways but poor overall
Revisado: 12-12-11
Is there anything you would change about this book?
What is the point? Christopher makes a trip by himself with some mishaps along the way? Maybe this is significant from his perspective, but hardly worth the time to listen to the book. Obviously, I expected more.
Would you ever listen to anything by Mark Haddon again?
Probably not.
Have you listened to any of Jeff Woodman???s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is my first listen from Jeff Woodman.
Was The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time worth the listening time?
No. Beyond gleaning some insights on a day in the life of an autistic person from their perspective.

Historia
Fatima, Portugal, 1917: The Virgin Mary appears to three peasant children, sharing with them three secrets, two of which are soon revealed to the world. The third secret is sealed away in the Vatican, read only by popes, and not disclosed until the year 2000. When revealed, its quizzical tone and anticlimactic nature leave many faithful wondering if the church has truly unveiled all of the Virgin Mary's words or if a message far more important has been left in the shadows.

My first and last Steve Berry Book
Revisado: 03-16-07
I like to read several books by an author and get to know their style and flavor. One Steve Berry is one too many.
I really enjoyed The Third Secret until it revealed the missing part of that secret. Then I realized that what had been something of a glittering box of a story contained a lame, unimaginative nugget inside. After hearing that part, I just turned it off and went on to my next listen without even finishing the story. Just think about all the controversial topics within today's Catholic Church, pick the position opposite the Church, and that's The Third Secret. The conservatives are bad guys who kill people? C'mon, Steve, get a life (and some imagination)!
