Historia
Antonia Scott is special. Very special. She is not a policewoman or a lawyer. She has never wielded a weapon or carried a badge, and yet, she has solved dozens of crimes. But it's been awhile since Antonia left her attic in Madrid. The things she has lost are much more important to her than the things awaiting her outside. She also doesn't receive visitors. That's why she really, really doesn't like it when she hears unknown footsteps coming up the stairs. Whoever it is, Antonia is sure that they are coming to look for her. And she likes that even less.

I really wanted to listen to this book but the narrator makes it really hard. Did get it on kindle instead.

Unfortunate narration

The slow and flat narration makes this a boring story to listen to. Did not finish the book.

Historia
San Francisco, 1906. In a city bustling with newly minted millionaires and scheming upstarts, two very different women hope to change their fortunes: Gemma, a golden-haired, silver-voiced soprano whose career desperately needs rekindling, and Suling, a petite and resolute Chinatown embroideress who is determined to escape an arranged marriage. Their paths cross when they are drawn into the orbit of Henry Thornton, a charming railroad magnate whose extraordinary collection of Chinese antiques includes the fabled Phoenix Crown, a legendary relic of Beijing’s fallen Summer Palace.

Too long at times
Revisado: 08-01-24
The author does repeat story details over and over what stretches dome parts of the book for no reason.

A senior Gabriel Allon
Revisado: 07-10-24
Liked the less bloody story suitable to a more wise Gabriel Allon. Less twisted than other stories. However did not appriciate the increasing product placements. Also while Daniel Silva does elaborate about Cleptocracy in his afterword, Gabriel and Family become more brand and wealth driven. Shopping at Armani, Gucci & Co and replacing their humble lodgings with pricy appartments and estates. What does not fit to the obvious aim of the story.

Historia
From the author of the wildly successful Dexter series comes a new, mesmerizing bad guy we can root for: Riley Wolfe. He’s a master thief, expert at disguise, and not averse to violence. It’s no accident, though, that Riley targets the wealthiest 0.1 percent and is willing to kill them when they’re in his way: He despises the degenerate and immoral rich and loves stealing their undeserved and unearned valuables. In this series launch, Riley aims for an extraordinary target in a heist that will make history. Riley will try to steal the Crown Jewels of Iran.

Foul, limited language
Revisado: 06-07-24
If I want people swearing continously into my ears I would go to a bar at the dodgy end of town. The story could be interesting in general but repeating the f.. word and more every second sentence really is not my kind of entertainement.

The story is good narration not suitable
Revisado: 04-15-24
The narrator is not suitable for this kind of story. She would be more suitable for a cozy mistery or a romance.

While the historic context is an important one. The books story line is boring snd without any actual con-action as we are used from main characters. Very disapointing.
