AWFUL Performance
Revisado: 04-24-25
Sounds absolutely terrible- like a child learning to read but without the endearing quality of being a child. This has to be AI and it’s bad AI. I couldn’t get past the second chapter.

It’s easy to be yourself when who and what you are is in vogue. But growing up Black and gay in America has never been easy. Before Billy Porter was slaying red carpets and giving an iconic performance in the celebrated TV show Pose; before he was the Tony Award-winning star of Broadway’s Kinky Boots; and before he was an acclaimed recording artist, actor, playwright, and all-around diva, Porter was a young boy who didn’t fit in.

Outstanding
Revisado: 12-04-24
Do you remember where you were when you saw the incomparable Billy Porter in the Christian Siriano black velvet tuxedo ball gown? Groundbreaking, Transformative, Outstanding. The power in that silence fills me up but this book digs into the past as to how he became one of our favorite gay POC’s on screen. A must read~ how can you understand someone without hearing the depths of their story. This book will fill your eyes with tears, twist a knot of frustration in your heart and turn your knuckles white at the injustices endured. Billy Porter has more strength than I know. He’s a fighter, an artist, an activist& I wish I could be more like him… or rather I will be a bigger & better person in the future for having read this. Then immediately upon finishing I see Mr. Porter OPENING the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Owning the road & laying it all out. I have SO Much Respect for him. WWBPD… ask yourself What Would Billy Porter Do?! WORK!

Historia
Remember Us is a look back at the lost world of the shtetl: a wise Zayde offering prophetic and profound words to his grandson, the rich experience of Shabbos, and the treasure of a loving family. All this is torn apart with the arrival of the Holocaust, beginning a crucible fraught with twists and turns so unpredictable and surprising that they defy any attempt to find reason within them. Through the eyes of 91-year-old Holocaust survivor Martin Small, we learn that these priceless memories that are too painful to remember are also too painful to forget.

I’m finally hearing the entire story of WW2. A Must Read.
Revisado: 10-01-24
In my journey to try to understand the atrocities of WW2, I now understand that I can never understand.
This story touches you more than memoirs focusing on life & survival from ghettos or concentration camps. Detailing the rich history and absolute joy of growing up in a Polish Shtetl, Michael weaves a thorough map of the depth of community that was lost in the Holocaust.
What hit me the hardest is that this story continues beyond the liberation of camps, continuing into the reconstruction of Michael’s life, the continued anti-semitism around the world, the life of hundreds of thousands of refugees with no country willing to take them in. You don’t hear about this in many books. You’re liberated, *Congratulations* and Everyone lives happily ever after. They don’t talk about the recurring trauma and nightmares, the true effect of living through absolute hell.
This is a remarkable book I finally feel like I’m hearing the entire story.

Historia
When Aline Griffith was born in Pearl River, New York, in 1923, one might have guessed from her exceptional beauty that a career as an actress or model might be in her future. Few would have imagined that twenty-one years later, she would find herself in Spain as a deep-cover OSS agent, infiltrating the highest levels of Spanish society, or that five years later still, she would marry a Spanish grandee and become one of the most watched, most admired, most fascinating women of international society. This is the story of Aline, Countess of Romanones, a story of courage, beauty and success that is far more exciting than any fictionalized thriller.

Historia
When the famous German author Sebastian Haffner died at the age of 91 in 1999, a manuscript was discovered among his unpublished papers. The book was begun in 1939, but with the advent of World War II, Haffner had set it aside. His family made the decision to publish it, and the book became a best seller in Germany in 2002. Spanning the period from 1907 to 1933, it offers a unique perspective on how the average educated German grappled with the rise of Hitler.

Essential WW2 reading-
Revisado: 09-06-24
From the point of view of an anti-fascist German, this book gives incredible insight into the transition from WW1 to Nazi Germany; answering the question “How could regular Germans have let this happen?” This should be an absolute cornerstone in anyone’s research into WW2.

But if you’ve ever wished you could communicate more effectively, words are the place to start. It’s incumbent upon you to choose the best words to accomplish your goals, because how you choose to communicate influences—well, everything! It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Finally safely speaking his truth
Revisado: 01-13-23
Silenced his whole life while lies were constantly told about him, he can finally safely speak his truth.
Everyone must read this book to hear the story directly from Harry, none of this “palace insider” bs. It’s remarkable to hear how it all fell apart & how the British media is at the root of it all. At the end, the firm seems so cult-like the way the pushed him out & cut him off.
It must be noted that Harry’s most important argument against this royal assault is that the proceeds from the book are going to all British charities.
Cheers to Harry & Meghan for raising above it all and thriving! Chin, chin 🥂
