Historia
Here is the story of Klara, an Artificial Friend with outstanding observational qualities, who, from her place in the store, watches carefully the behavior of those who come in to browse, and of those who pass on the street outside. She remains hopeful that a customer will soon choose her. Klara and the Sun is a thrilling book that offers a look at our changing world through the eyes of an unforgettable narrator, and one that explores the fundamental question: What does it mean to love?

Legendary Grammy Award-winning producer and towering musical icon T Bone Burnett speaks plainly, which is all the more reason why his stunning new Words + Music, The Confederacy: Truth and Reconciliation, lands with such force. And his songs, delivered straight from the heart, carry with them the weight of unvarnished truth and the wisdom he’s gathered from a lifetime.

Fantastic Required READING!!!
Revisado: 10-06-20
T Bone Burnett has woven a powerful history of racism in the United States and its continued growth. He explains the worldly origins and weaves many fact driven lessons with his songs and musical genius. The story and music are so compelling it almost makes me want to teach history again to 7 & 8 graders. Looking forward to the next chapter to this plight. Thank you T Bone for your work.

This story was very interesting my only complaint was that it was an abridged version of the book. I do not enjoy abridged versions of books and I would like to listen to the entire book.

Historia
Power is changing. Private corner offices and management by decree are out, as is unquestioned trust in the government and media. These former pillars of traditional power have been replaced by networks of informed citizens who collectively wield more power over their personal lives, employers, and worlds than ever before. So how do you navigate this new landscape and come out on top? Adam Grant, Wharton organizational psychologist, went to the World Economic Forum in Davos, the epicenter of power, and sat down with thought leaders from around the world, to find out.

Revisado: 03-31-19
This book is a must read! Adam Grant demonstrates to us the world we now live in. how our world is changing regardless of politics and how positive this can be. He provides us with so many ideas the book becomes an excellent reference and starting point in ones own thinking and problem solving processes.
I just loved this book, learning so much and answering questions that often stroll through my mind. I believe this book would be an excellent read for most College level courses and used as a resource for teachers of levels.
Great book and inspirational.

Historia
An utterly unsentimental journey toward the end of life, Mala is an irreverent exploration of how we live, cope, and survive in the moment. Grounded in Lopez’s distinctive emotional language and sharp humor, this powerful one-woman show dances between doctors and urgent 911 calls, a mother’s growing frailty, and a daughter’s quest for grace - all set during an epic Boston winter. Rather than depict a “right way”, the play opens the door for our universal struggle to support those we love in dying, especially when all we’ve ever focused on is surviving.

I listened to this story on the last leg of a trip to visit Chile. We traveled, each day, for 7 days, I was beat. Not knowing very much Spanish made our trip difficult and interestingly exciting. My point is, this made listing to Mala even more enjoyable and fun.
Mala, is fast paced and realistically humorous. One can relate to grind of living life, and many of us have lived through.
This was a wonderful presentation.

As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, mothers begin to call their children home. But on this warm evening, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children gripping a tree trunk in terror, wearing blood-filled sneakers, and unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours. Twenty years later, the found boy, Rob Ryan, is a detective on the Dublin Murder Squad and keeps his past a secret.

Drugs. Extortion. Slavery. Organized crime is fighting for a hold on John Rebus's peaceful Scotland. And when Rebus rescues a young Bosnian girl forced into prostitution, he breaks a policeman's golden rule to never get personally involved in a case. Add to that the hunt for an elderly Nazi accused of slaughtering an entire French village, and Rebus wonders just how evil humans can be - until his own daughter is mortally injured as a gangland warning for him to back off. Then even a dedicated cop like Rebus might make a deal with the devil to find the culprit. Not for justice. For revenge.

Exciting and interestingly dark.

I have listen to about 5 or 6 Ian Rankin books. They tend to emotionally hard subjects but very compelling to listen to. The books rivet me to them while listening.
I also love to envision the City of Edinburgh, the Highlands, Inverness at all there peoples, The Scottish accent, it all makes for great sojourn from one present reality.
Excellent stories, you will not be disappointed.

Historia
Born just fifteen months apart, Subhash and Udayan Mitra are inseparable brothers, one often mistaken for the other in the Calcutta neighborhood where they grow up. But they are also opposites, with gravely different futures ahead. It is the 1960s, and Udayan—charismatic and impulsive—finds himself drawn to the Naxalite movement, a rebellion waged to eradicate inequity and poverty; he will give everything, risk all, for what he believes.

This story I found compellingly interesting. It brought me to my knees on several occasions. Speaking to the complex aspects of human relationships and there dysfunctional threads that bind them together. This story is very good, in my opinion.
