I enjoyed listening to Cry Havoc (Book No. 13) even more than reading and/or listening to the preceeding books in David Lee Corley's Airmen series. As with the other books in the series, the story is well researched and the author skillfully ties together historical events of 'the big picture' with the more personal stories of the main characters. The ever-corrupt activities of the Diem regime and the coup that toppled their grip on Viet Nam were well documented and written in a manner that keeps the listener fully engaged. The computerized narration is much better than expeceted, with the exception of a few Vietnamese geographical names. Example: Hue city was repeatedly pronounced "Hew" instead if "Way". Other than that, great audio book!

This is the eighth of Elmer Kelton's western novels I've enjoyed listening to as an audio book. Each has provided a different adventurous tale featuring. a new and original "good guy", a " bad guy", and some interesting supporting characters. Working through adversity and a series of crisis, each of his stories concludes on a positive note. Jonathon Davis' narration was flawless and a pleasure to listen to. Hard Trail to Follow won't disappoint.

I listened to the ‘Far Canyon’ during what would have been a long and arduous overseas flight. The story quickly gained my interest thanks to its’ many interesting characters, along with excellent narration by George Guidall. In the story, Elmer Kelton expresses the feelings and emotions of the pioneers, who are moving west in search of land and opportunity. At the same time, he does the same for members of the Comanche tribes, whose lands, lives, and culture are being taken from them. The story, for me, was quite insightful and thought provoking. Of course, as in every Western, there’s a bad guy who reappears throughout the story. I regretted reaching the end of the ‘Far Canyon’, as its’ characters stuck with me. It was a most enjoyable audiobook.

The fantastical storyline follows Marine Raiders as they cheerfully romp down the jungle trails of Guadalcanal, mowing down Japanese troops like ducks in a shooting gallery, while the Marines suffer only grazing wounds. While the story is entertaining from a purely fictional standpoint, it paints a picture of jungle combat so far from the sobering truth, that it's almost irreverent. Please keep this in mind if you decide to read it.

While the story required several chapters to gain momentum, it did feature plenty of naval action. As with most any fiction, much of the action would have been unlikely in the"David versus Goliath" sense. At the same time, I found listening to this audiobook most enjoyable and entertaining. The narrator was adept at representing various characters in different situations. Thumbs up.

I've thoroughly enjoyed every book in Marc Cameron's Arlis Cutter series, Stone Cross included. The storyline is adventurous, plausible, original, filled with action, and quite engaging. Its' characters are all very colorful and human. The setting, in a small remote Alaskan community, adds to the sense of danger and adventure. David Chandler is narration is outstanding his ability to represent the female characters without making me cringe is very much appreciated. Great read!

This fictional western tale follows a US Cavalry scout on a journey to apprehend an outlaw gang that has murdered and robbed a group of Quaker immigrants. As in most action oriented stories, the protagonist is cast as an overly puritanical super hero spreading good deeds and without vice. At the same time, the story spares the reader of any romantic mush - it remains focused on the action. Montana Territory kept me engaged throughout, and I looked forward to each chapter. Narration fit the story and made for an enjoyable listening experience.

A Thought Provoking Tale of Action and Intrigue

The story is a fictional account of a 'heroic' and skillful MI-6 agent. Although his specialty is assassination, he invariably takes the moral high road. Throughout the story, he's misused and then betrayed by the self-serving upper echelons of MI-6 and the CIA. The author skillfully switches back and forth between settings in London, Turkey, Iraq, and Indonesia. At first, this seemed disconcerting . But the various back- stories quickly came together as the plot progressed. The narrator skillfully adapted his tone and accents to the numerous British, Scottish, Southern US, Middle Eastern, and Indonesian characters. While bringing the story to a pleasing conclusion, the author was still able to leave it open for future continuation. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audiobook.

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. It featured adventure, action, mystery, family, love gained, love lost, and all without any syrupy mush. The story started out somewhat slow, then gained momentum through to the conclusion. Narration by David Chandler was excellent, as always.
