Cult Thriller with twists and turns
Revisado: 08-18-24
Killer Cult by Addison Moore is a gripping start to the Fallon Baxter FBI Mystery Series that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end! The story masterfully blends heart-pounding suspense with emotional depth as FBI Agent Fallon Baxter returns to her hometown, only to be thrown into a deadly investigation involving the Paradise Cult. The plot is fast-paced, filled with unexpected twists, and offers clean language, making it accessible to a broad audience. Fallon’s struggle to reconcile her painful past while unraveling a dark mystery adds a compelling layer to the book. The tension between Fallon and her colleague Stone keeps you hoping for more, and the red cloak twist truly caught me by surprise!
The only downside is the virtual voice narration. While the story itself deserves 5 stars, the AI-generated voice is monotone, and the lack of differentiation between characters made it difficult to follow at times. However, don’t let this deter you from diving into this thrilling read. If you’re a fan of mysteries with strong, relatable characters and jaw-dropping twists, Killer Cult is a must-read. I can’t wait to see where Addison Moore takes Fallon Baxter next!

Unforgettable Listening Experience
Revisado: 08-18-24
Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell is a masterfully crafted psychological thriller that grips you from the very beginning and refuses to let go. The story delves into the haunting aftermath of fifteen-year-old Ellie Mack's disappearance and explores the emotional turmoil of her mother, Laurel Mack, who is still grappling with the devastating loss ten years later. Jewell intricately weaves a tale that is as emotionally charged as it is suspenseful, with twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat.
The audiobook experience is elevated by Helen Duff's impeccable narration. Her voice captures the nuanced emotions of each character, while her pleasant British accent perfectly complements the novel's setting. Duff's ability to subtly enhance the tension and drama within the story without overshadowing the narrative is remarkable. Her narration is unobtrusive yet gripping, allowing the listener to become fully immersed in the emotional journey of loss, discovery, and the chilling pursuit of the truth.
Jewell's depiction of human connections and alienation is thought-provoking, adding depth to what could have simply been a suspenseful indulgence. The characters are compelling and multidimensional, making the reader care deeply about their fates. Some of the darker elements may be unsettling, but Jewell's skillful storytelling softens these moments, focusing on the psychological impact rather than sensationalism.
With its unpredictable plot, richly drawn characters, and Helen Duff's captivating narration, Then She Was Gone is an unforgettable listening experience that I highly recommend to anyone who loves a suspenseful, well-crafted thriller.

You never know what is Beneath
Revisado: 10-11-18
Maureen A. Miller knows how to spin a tale. Coming from a reading that loves the ocean and has always wondered about the deep beneath this book had my attention. This gripped me and didn’t let go. It certainly felt real to me. Beneath is a realistic and frightening story of being lost at sea, with a twist. They end up capsize in an underwater cavern fighting for their life on a sunken cavern they realize they are not alone, they have to learn to survive together, and try to escape. I was completely immersed in this underwater world. Beneath adds so many unexpected aspects there are surprises everywhere.
Brandy Skelly’s was perfect for Beneath. I do think the audio quality could have been a little better as if it missed a final editing some noises and sounds could have been removed to improve the overall performance.
I look forward to what comes next from author Maureen A. Miller

You will Laugh and Cry but in a good way!
Revisado: 10-10-18
I have to start this review off with the narration, usually, a YA (sort of) Humor & Satire type book narration is a tough and sometimes a little hard to listen to but Kevin Clay ROCKED IT!! All the voices were perfect even the weird characters, so perfect I laughed out loud several times, just visualizing the character. He was a spot on narrator for this book. Whether the character is male or female, young or old, he delivered a perfect read.
The author did a fantastic job putting together a book this is a good read for all readers, I see people saying coming of age, and YA but it’s not, its life, its humor, it’s a good book, its thought-provoking and a really good listen/read. I will give you a heads up the story is told in the first person by Ray, and the writing style is of a teenager, but do not let that keep you away from this book. I highly recommend Ray vs The Meaning of Life…
A dysfunctional family, Ray to inherit the trailer park. It’s a million-dollar estate with one hitch: To prove he’s not as aimless as he seems, Ray must discover the meaning of life by the end of the month. This is where it gets good…
Search for the meaning of life, Ray will discover things about himself he never knew possible.

I was Transported into the Dragonia Empire
Revisado: 09-29-18
What an amazing story I feel like I have just been transported to the Dragonia Empire! Such a creative and well-written story. The narrator's voice is a perfect fit for this adventure, Book 1 Rise of the Wyvens is narrated by Reuben Corbett. His voice shows you the world and characters created by Craig A. Price Jr. be ready to take the ride of a lifetime with Devarius and the Resistance.
Dragonia: Rise of the Wyverns had some of the most fascinating characters each one was unique and developed through the story. The narrator used accents to make it clear for character differentiation with the necessary emotion.
The story was engaging, and any fantasy fan will find something they love about this book it's a gripping story that starts off the fast pace and remains with a non-stop adventure join the fleeing survivors, and search for "real" resistance so that they can fight back.
The Story transports you from the real world into his world created by an Author. The narrator's voice fit in characters, the narration was nicely handled and well... overall good character development and a very interesting story-line. The book does end on a cliffhanger, so be ready to purchase the next book....

Truly a Romantic Interlude
Revisado: 09-29-18
The Way We Were: Romantic Interludes by Rik Stone is a collection of five different romantic stories.
Sterry the narrator was a fantastic, his voice gave light and vision to the scenes and characters throughout the book.
The short romantic stores where heartfelt and sentimental romantic stories. I so wanted to be a character in this book, the love was simply a reminder that attraction can be subtle and develop into a deep relationship. Each story is short and sweet The romantic interludes are all completely different covering all ages of love, it’s romantic, humorous and an enjoyable listen.
Rik stone’s writing style and the narrator’s tone let us feel the characters emotions, I highly recommend this book

Humor, Politics and Crazy Antics
Revisado: 08-10-18
This book was many first for me, first time listening to this narrator, first time reading/hearing the author and my first Comedic Political Thriller. A favorite moment in the book a hungover American President in the Oval Office, LAUGH OUT LOUD FUNNY!! My Name Is Nelson: Pretty Much the Best Novel Ever is really the best novel ever, I loved every minute of it.
Author Dylan Fairchild gives you an amazing read My Name Is Nelson is a VERY well-written story. Great characters, with an amusing story bringing his own brand of justice to the world’s elite. Narrator Eric Johnson performed perfectly, he made the story come to life both the writing and the narrator worked hard together to have such a successful audible. My Name Is Nelson has so many great moments throughout the book humor, politics, crazy antics and on top of that it was a thriller. Erik Johnson is absolutely spot-on, accents, even singing, creating the illusion of having several different people.

A Blend of Cyberpunk and Dystopia
Revisado: 08-10-18
The Sigma Surrogate by J.T. Lawrence is a cyberpunk futuristic series its the prequel to the series When Tomorrow Comes. It is the year 2021, and there is a group of women that are surrogates. In a world where the infertility rate is extremely high, and the human population has become mostly sterile, The Sigma Surrogates, are the young women recruited to give birth, and selected to carry other people’s children. They are an elite group within the society in South Africa. Keke is a journalist that is investigating and in search of the truth. The story is full of action and has several surprising twists.
J.T. Lawrence gives us a real batch of characters, ones you can relate with and Jean Ann Douglass’ narration is amazing I really connect and the story comes to life. Listening to the narration was like watching a scene unfold in front of your eyes. Douglass’ provided strong character interpretations she delivers spot-on tones to matches what’s happening in the scene.
A great blend of cyberpunk and dystopia! I look forward to continuing this series to see what happens next!

Hidden mysteries and agendas
Revisado: 08-04-18
Song at Dawn is a historical fiction, set in Medieval Occitania after the Second Crusade. The author takes the readers/listeners on a medieval action-packed women's adventure following the Second Crusade. This is the first book I’ve read by Jean Gill and also my first listened to narration by Jake Urry I loved the narration Jake he did a fantastic job, making the characters come to life.
We follow Estela de Matin, a teenage runaway ran away. Estela de Matin encounters Aliénor of Aquitaine, the Queen of France. In time Estela will realize the court is full of political intrigue and gossip. In this volume we really watch Estela de Matin grow, I love her relationship with Dragonetz.
Song at Dawn has hidden mysteries and agendas, a girl on the run, the consort of the King of France, all the character were interesting and I look forward to seeing how the author builds them in The Troubadours Quartet, Volume 2 will we have more attempted assassinations, alliances, deception, and conflicts of interest.
The main and supporting characters are very well developed, with motivations, and desires we all have - money, love, and a darker side. The story unfolds each character revealing secrets, passion, and intrigue. The book has several characters which I think reading it maybe harder to keep track but the Audiobook with the narration just flows and you find yourself deep with intrigue, espionage, and romance. I have to give kudos to the narrator again as there are several female characters in the Song at Dawn and Mr. Urry does the voices perfectly.
