A Regency Romp with Better than Expected VV

A fun Regency adventurous tale - maybe a bit far-fetched but enjoyable just the same. Will look for another such tale from this author. The narration was much better than expected from Virtual Voice.

Decent Story needs A Lot of Editing

The actual ‘voice’ of Virtual Voice is good, but the errors are consistent throughout the tale. I suspect the story of being an example of AI-generation. In serious need of an editor and proofreader as well as better pacing to keep one sentence from stepping on another.

Unusual P&P Variation - VV is Ok

As another reviewer or two stated, this is not the usual sort of Pride and Prejudice story. For a while, I wasn’t sure if Lizzy would end up with Darcy. I don’t care for VV but it wasn’t that bad. I liked the new Character, Lady Fetton, very much.

Fabulous Details for a Variation

I have never listened to such an intricately detailed P&P Variation with what seemed like authentic Regency time period details. Some reviewers found this tedious and anyone who wants Angst or Drama or Fluff probably wouldn’t care for this story (aside from the virtual voice), but I was very much interested. It was like seeing into a real Regency era family and home. This variation is off canon, but I didn’t mind. The changed character of Wickham was most astonishing, but not unbelievable. This author tells a very good, well-developed tale. The VV is not terrible. I am going to find another book by this author.

Amazing Virtual Voice - Just WOW

I was astounded that this story was narrated by Virtual Voice. First, it is surprisingly Good - not robotic. Second, it uses about 4 different voices : one for Lizzy, one for Caroline, one for Lydia and a male voice for Darcy!!! The story was well done although I could have done with fewer letters.

Interesting Variation - VV has improved

I think the story was well done, interesting, good dialogue, focus on E & D, etc…. Some scenes were definitely beyond Austen’s book and even though not too detailed, I found it a little off-putting to have Elizabeth behave as she did. The Virtual Voice has improved since the last time I listened to a book narrated by it. There was not the same robotic reading as before and a lot less errors i pronunciation and syntax and the like. That being said, I STILL prefer human readers.

Main Story Good - Narrator Excellent

I mostly enjoyed the original GD story. I liked the premise and characterizations of Lady C and Anne. I swallowed the first 2, even 3, biblical references, after that i began to feel the author was preaching to her readers and I very much dislike that. I don’t listen to P&P variations as bible study sessions. I don’t know that I will risk another story from this author. Harry Frost was excellent as usual.

Very Good Variations and Talented Narrator

I really enjoyed 4 of the 5 stories in this collection. The reincarnation story was good, but just a bit odd and confusing - still it was well written and had interesting scenes and characters. I re-listened to the other 4 stories immediately after I finished the set. Rafe Beckley is a very good reader and I enjoyed listening to him. I will be relistening to this this set. Kudos to Harriet Knowles.

Adventurous P&P Variation

Exciting if improbable adventure for our Pride and Prejudice characters. The author creates fabulous dialogue and flowing passages that keep one riveted - I was riveted even as I noted some silly or unlikely or even highly improbable scenes. The Most Improbable scene was near the end with Caroline Bingley who would never have made the guest list. Some reviews criticize the narrator but I didn’t mind her soft spoken voice - not at all.

Wonderful rendition of a Clever Story

I very much enjoyed this story of the Wrong-footed Darcy - and pretty much clueless - learning better behavior. Great dialogue throughout, especially between Darcy and Elizabeth,and a much better resolution of the Bennet family “issues” given the alteration in Mr Bennet’s attitude. Great narrator, as always.
