Very different for the Outfit/Mafia/Bratva genre and most romances in general. Has a weight to it and addresses substance use/abuse and verbal/physical abuse pretty well, I think, in addition to being a drowning single guardian. Doesn’t try to be chipper or unicorns and rainbows. Base concept of contractual sex isn’t unique, but Fox takes it in an entirely different direction and really makes the book different. Enjoyed the characters and the narrators made this book.

Read like any other the Outfit/Bratva/Mafia romance books in this and not in a good way. Lost the grittiness and fantastic storytelling that was in the first one. Meh.

I usually only leave reviews on Goodreads, but I just had to come on here and RAVE about the narrators. They read the characters perfectly. There was no melodramatic reading, no one sounded cheesy or ghoulish. It was amazing.

Loved the story. The characters were dynamic, fleshed out, quirky and halter skelter. Made the storyline pop. Could not stand the background music. It wasn’t appropriate for what was happening in each scene and that was really distracting at times. If you can find a version without this blasted music I’d suggest listening to it instead.
