Historia
A reluctant ex-spy with demons of her own, Elinor finds herself facing down one of the most dangerous organized crime gangs in London, ultimately exposing corruption from Scotland Yard to the highest levels of government. The private, quiet “Miss White" as Elinor is known, lives in a village in rural Kent, England, and to her fellow villagers seems something of an enigma. Well she might, as Elinor occupies a "grace and favor" property, a rare privilege offered to faithful servants of the Crown for services to the nation.

So well written with a marvelous narrator
Revisado: 02-07-24
I really enjoyed the author’s command of the English language. The main characters are memorable and the plot is very interesting.
I usually stay away from books about war however
I began to care about the characters and found that the real story is all about them. I’m so glad I read this. The narrator is superb and adds so much to the depth of the story. I look forward to reading more of this author’s work.

Compelling story & superb writing
Revisado: 09-18-23
I really enjoy Donna Tartt’s command of the English language. And although I was hesitant at first to like her own voice as the narrator, I really liked it in the end. Her writing gives such a wonderful sense of place filled with details that make it all come to life. She creates full body characters so clearly that after a while you feel like you know them. The events in the book are so horrific all the while the characters
go along like they are solving day to day problems and not dealing with the Murder of two innocent lives.
Then the unraveling begins. It is a visceral descent . And weeks after I finished this book
I am haunted by all that has happened and all that human beings are capable of.

LOVED THIS STORY
Revisado: 05-10-23
This is my favorite Louise Penny book. Her characters are so vivid I feel like they are real & I actually know them. She uses literary allusions and I enjoy that so much. The storyline here is complex and compelling.
This book is absolutely wonderful. And the narrator is simply devine.

Historia
Back in 1985, Frank Mackey was a nineteen-year-old kid with a dream of escaping his family's cramped flat on Faithful Place and running away to London with his girl, Rosie Daly. But on the night they were supposed to leave, Rosie didn't show. Frank took it for granted that she'd dumped him-probably because of his alcoholic father, nutcase mother, and generally dysfunctional family. He never went home again. Neither did Rosie. Then, twenty-two years later, Rosie's suitcase shows up.

Another compelling story & memorable characters
Revisado: 11-27-22
I wasn’t that excited to read this book as I knew it was going to be about Frank ( an undercover cop) instead of Cassie - whom I’d grown fond of in the previous two books of this series. BUT- this book was great. Tana French writes beautifully and the characters jumped to life.
I began to care what happened to them. The dialogue is fabulous especially Frank’s Ma.
The details of living a life with a violent alcoholic father and the damage that brings to children were painfully tragic. There are no perfect people here. But I cared about them anyway. The plot artfully unraveled and kept me guessing. This was a wonderful tale.

The victim looks exactly like Cassie and carries ID identifying herself as Alexandra Madison, an alias Cassie once used as an undercover cop. Beautifully written
Revisado: 11-25-22
This is the second Tana French book I’ve read.
Of course the writing is beautiful. The narrator was wonderful. The story got off to a slow start for me because I was still coming off of the previous story with some of the same characters. It was narrated by a man whose voice was deep and soulful. I had to get used to the new voice of the story. When I did everything fell into place and I enjoyed this complex and surprising tale. This book was fantastic.

Great who done it
Revisado: 06-29-22
with an absolutely superb narrator. The story hooks you right away. You care about the characters. They are complex and real. The narrative does not become completely clear till the end and I felt the relief of the police every time they got a little closer to the truth.
The narrators are absolutely terrific and add so much to the story. You will love it.

WHAT A FABULOUS BOOK
Revisado: 06-03-22
The author hooks you immediately and you don’t want to let go. I was not familiar with this writer or this book. I read an article in which top writers told their favorite books and this was one. So I took a chance. The narrator is wonderful and adds much to the story.
The story itself is immediately intriguing. I cared about the characters and they were well developed.it was hard to put this book down. The author paints the world of these characters with a luscious brush. I so enjoyed reading her descriptions with words so lovely they border on poetry. The story line moves continuously with a nice pace. And every turn made me anxious to find the next. I was surprised at the very end as the story gave its final clue. What a wonderful tale. I absolutely adored this book.

Another wonderful book from Michael Robotham
Revisado: 01-16-22
The main character Joe, his sidekick , his wife & kids, & the woman police officer are ALL flawed
characters that you actually care about and care deeply. The dialogue is absolutely realistic and settings become clear pictures in your imagination. The pace of the story is just right and the story itself captures the reader at once.
Sean Barrett the narrator has a voice that is deeply
soothing but it still evokes emotion, alarm, and danger. The book could not be as wonderful without him. I love his voice.
The story is a lot like life- glorious, devastating, messy, and meaningful. This can be said of all his books.
To be able to listen to his books his pure pleasure for me and I am looking forward to the next one.

Like nearly one in five people, Matt Haig suffers from depression. Reasons to Stay Alive is his inspiring account of how, minute by minute and day by day, he overcame the disease with the help of reading, writing, and the love of his parents and his girlfriend (now wife), Andrea. And eventually, he learned to appreciate life all the more for it. Everyone's lives are touched by mental illness; if we do not suffer from it ourselves, then we have a friend or loved one who does.

more moving than this. He is deeply passionate
about the power of knowledge, experience, and
inspiration. He is deeply introspective. He wants to share, to give- everything he knows about this subject to his readers. Read this book. And walk away with profound compassion and connection to yourself and your humanity.
