Historia
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Love the show and the books, not the narrator.
Revisado: 03-08-23
Years ago, maybe during season 5 or 6 of the show, I decided to try the audiobooks. I kept hearing about so many details that were left out. I listened to a sample and was immediately turned off by Dotrice. Now, after having listened to the Histories and Lore, I wanted to try again. It was a struggle but I got through. Dotrice seems to have 3 varying tones of voice for all of the characters men, women and children alike. Many of the words and names are mispronounced and the entire thing is narrated like a historical tome.
I sincerely wish this series could be reproduced with a different narrator or cast of actors. The story itself was amazing gives so much more depth to the events of the show. His voice does not do it justice.

I liked this. Why all the complaining?
Revisado: 04-06-21
I read reviews before I downloaded this. From the complaints I expected Anita to have regressed back to the times when she was running away from all of her main men and denying that she was the vampire version of a succubus and not really human anymore.
She did none of that. She has mostly accepted what she is but is just having a little trouble adjusting to it having been mostly human for 30 years. Yes the plot is a little slow at the beginning but the book takes the time to explain the changes in her relationships and power levels.
I also saw people complaining the story being focused too much on Anita and not Raphael. What did folks expect? The story is being told and narrated from Anita’s point of view. The story did focus on the were-rats much more and gave a little incite into their culture and Raphael. I only wish we could have had Bobby Lee. This book mostly reminded of the books about Jason and Micah.

Excellent.
Revisado: 11-10-19
Extinction Cycle: Dark Age combines everything I loved about my three favorite apocalyptic novels. The Tide, Extinction Cycle and Commune.
The tone, pace and detail draw you into the story and characters very quickly. There is just enough science and action. You aren’t bored to tears but also not jumping from one gun battle to another.
I love RC Bray’s narrations. The readers of Tide and Extinction were very good. I was pleasantly surprised by Bronson Pinchot. But RC has the ability to make you feel that you’ve known these characters all of your life. And no character ever sounds the same as another.

Historia
Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made 28 years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children.

One of my all time favorites.
Revisado: 08-07-18
I like most Stephen King books but “IT” is at the top of the list. Especially the audio version.
The amount of detail and pace of the story always drags me in no matter how often I listen.
Steven Weber was an excellent choice of narrator. Each character is distinguishable from the other and his interpretation of Pennywise is eerie.
Highly recommend this book to any fan of the horror genre.

Historia
He's Miami's hottest new MVP. She's the woman who makes it all worthwhile. I brought us to Miami, my engagement ring on Roxie's finger, and nothing feels better than this woman by my side. She keeps me home, keeps me grounded, and having her with me on this new journey means everything. I'm well aware of what Roxie's given up to come to Miami with me: an entire other life, and any sacrifices I've made are none compared to that. This woman is made for me and I am for her, and if we can get through what we dealt with in college, I think we'll be golden here.

Good story, wrong female narrator.
Revisado: 04-22-16
I really wish these publishers could find black women to read for characters that are black. This woman sounds like Ilyana Kadushin (Twilight narrator) and I was halfway through the first book before I could enjoy it. I almost returned it right away except for the reviews.

Throughout my life, all that's ever mattered to me has been the win and the thrill of the game. But then I meet Roxie, and everything changes. She's the girl no one sees, completely opposite from the world I live in and the life I lead, but I don't care. She makes me better. She makes me see things in ways I never have before, and I think I do that for her, too. The problem is the complications in my life may see fit to end us, test her in ways I'm sure she's never been tested.

Historia
Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special 12-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of hyper-devoted fans of The Shining and wildly satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.

Very enjoyable.

One of my favorite newer King novels.
A poor narrator can make or break an audiobook and Will Patton does an excellent job. I loved discovering what happened to Dan, Wendy, Dick and meeting Abra and the characters in the story.
