Historia
The vampire Wulfe is missing. Since he’s deadly, possibly insane, and his current idea of “fun” is stalking me, some may see it as no great loss. But, warned that his disappearance might bring down the carefully constructed alliances that keep our pack safe, my mate and I must find Wulfe—and hope he’s still alive. As alive as a vampire can be, anyway.

Perfect rendition of the book.

I hope Lorelei King keeps voicing the Mercy books forever— she is perfect. The voice nuances that she does for each character (both female and male) are exquisite, and she makes the reading come alive.

Obviously, to appreciate this novel you have to acknowledge that President 45’s exit was a Sh*t Show. What I truly appreciate was the extra details Mr Carl provides, without making the story too lengthy or bogged down. What I really loved was actual live voice clips he dug up especially for this audiobook. Superb.

From Horror to Hope
Revisado: 06-17-18
If you are a fan of Joe Kenda, you have to get this audiobook, narrated by the author himself. He speaks in gritty cop-speak, laced with profanities, but REAL. He pulls no punches and talks about the lowest of humanity's behaviors. He goes into the background of human nature and why some do murder. But, by the end, he pulls you back up from the pits and helps you appreciate humanity once again. Kenda re-lives a career as a police officer and detective, and makes you appreciate him for who he was and who he is becoming.

Alien Barbarian Saga Continues
Revisado: 04-23-18
I enjoyed both of the narrators, and their range of adapting voices makes the story more enjoyable. This is a tender but erotic love story with both internal and external conflicts which makes it more complex and emotional than just an average bodice-ripper story. Don’t shy away from it being set in an alien landscape: that just adds the flavor of cultural adaptation. Enjoy!

Brings the "Mercy" stories alive.
Revisado: 01-21-17
What can I say? I've come to associate Mercy Thompson's voice with narrator Lorelei King. She does well with different voices and accents. The challenge for a female narrator is doing male voices well, and LK does. The story done by Patricia Briggs is the best example of urban fantasy, and her world-building and details are excellent. In all, it's a great intro to the genre, and I wouldn't hesitate introducing newbies to the genre through this story.

A Wonderful new take on Sleeping Beauty.
Revisado: 12-24-13
What made the experience of listening to Enchantment the most enjoyable?
The narrator. I love someone who can voice foreign accents and words properly. That gives it such authentic flavor. Plus, the story by O.S. Card has such a wealth of cultural and historic background seamlessly flavoring the story, to give such a different viewpoint. It's not just another "going backwards in time" story. It's fleshed out.
What did you like best about this story?
The versions of old Russian/Ukrainian folk tales. I love folk tales!
What about Stefan Rudnicki’s performance did you like?
As previously mentioned, Rudnicki's mellow baritone voice pronouncing foreign words well just adds to the overall authentic experience.

Then he disappeared, and the betrayal drove her home to lick her wounds. Who knew he’d have the gall to show his face in her brother’s bar. Max Wilder figures he deserves Callie’s right hook to the jaw, but it changes nothing. He had his reasons for pursuing her across Europe, for making her fall in love with him. But when she took everything he gave and offered more, she changed all the rules. He had no choice in leaving her, but now he’s back.

Wow! Intense...
Revisado: 08-21-13
What did you love best about Colters' Daughter?
Please DON'T read/listen to this story until you have encountered the first two stories of the Colter's Legacy series, otherwise, you'll be lost with the characters. This is a continuation of the daughter, Callie, and why she was so wounded from her previous loss of her significant relationship with Max. It does bring in Dominance/submission and simple elements of BDSM, but nothing worse than erotic spanking. It does explore the psychology of why a self-reliant, assertive person such as Callie would enjoy submission, under the right circumstances/person. It shows how trust is the glue in that type of relationship, and Callie struggles mightily to trust again once trust was broken.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Colters' Daughter?
When Callie learns to trust again at the end of the story. No spoilers... it is well worth it to see to the end!
What does Freddie Bates bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Amazing how Freddie can modulate his voice to touch upon all the characters, both male and female. That is amazing among narrators.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
If I would be in the habit of doing that, yes, I would. It would be great as a distraction for a long car trip or flight.
Any additional comments?
Just disappointed that the series is done!

But it is how he has changed that fills him with dread and loathing. Buried alive for hundreds of years in a volcano in the Carpathian Mountains, Dax fears that he has become the full-fledged abomination that every Carpathian male fears, a victim of the insidious evil that has crept relentlessly into his mind and body over the centuries.

It's been done better before...
Revisado: 08-21-13
What made the experience of listening to Dark Storm the most enjoyable?
The two narrator experience helps contrast the female and male main characters, and makes it more real-to-life and appealing.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Dark Storm?
When Riley and Dax consummate their relationship. It was more of a courtship process than the typical swoop-you-up, "you're mine", and bang! mating of other Carpathian stories.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
Sadly, not so much. The Penguin Audio producers had each narrator read the total line when the character's Point of View was in play, resulting in a woman reading a deep male's voice, and vice versa. I wish they would have kept to the Brilliance Audio's production technique of having one or the other narrator during character POV, but when dialog appears, actually have the man or woman read the lines.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, I usually do not. I like to listen while on commutes or doing household chores. That doesn't lend itself to listening for very long stretches.
Any additional comments?
I would have liked the production MUCH better had the Penguin Audio producers taken my suggestion for the narration. PLEASE pass that on for the next recording! Why bother having a two person narration when the wrong sex person reads dialog? Also, please verify with the author about Foreign Word Pronunciation: some of the words didn't seem quite correct.

Excellent!
Revisado: 08-10-09
As a big fan of the written Black Dagger Brotherhood series, I had high expectations of the quality of this book, which is one of my favorites of them all. The pathos and badass nature of the writing really come out with this reading. JR Ward's writing style is not for the wilting-lily romance reader--it is hard-biting, and gets every scrap of pain from her characters. This reading by Jim Frangione definitely does it justice. Hop on and go for a ride! I enjoy that I can purchase this from Audible, because the download price is much less salty than purchasing hard copies (of whichever format) directly from Recorded Books. Thank you, Audible.com.

Tortured and Sexy
Revisado: 07-23-08
OK,folks, listen up... the genre reviewed here is Romance, specifically Paranormal Romance. The hero/heroine interact wonderfully because they both are internally tortured by their own personally unresolvable problems, but that are satisfied both personally and sexually in each other. If you would be at all familiar with the concept, Romance frequent has the concept of 'destiny' in it,as in foredestined mating, and that concept comes across beautifully in this novel and audiobook. The action to bring this mating to its fruition comes in fits and starts, as a good novel should have, knowing that these characters are coming together, but how? and when? Also the interaction of the myriad cast of characters keeps the pace going well(I don't know how Gena keeps track of them all!) As for the narrator, Max Belmore, I was sold almost immediately with his sweet, sexy voice, delightfully male. It is no mean feat to tone one's voice to approximate different character traits...yeah, go ahead, you try it! So, kudos to a beautiful, dark, tortured, sexy tale. The sequels are delicious, too. Plan to keep comin' back for more. Luv ya, Gena and Max!
