Missing the first couple words in every breath
Revisado: 12-15-24
The audio is missing the first couple words in every breath the narrator takes!
Maddeningly limited information and I’ve tried removing it and reinstalling but I don’t think Audible actually does that.

Historia
Savannah Webster is trying to find her way forward. She and her husband, Hez, have been separated since tragedy tore them apart and he began numbing his grief and guilt with alcohol. She returned to Tupelo Grove University, which her family helped found over a century ago, to teach history. When Hez turns up in her classroom asking for a second chance, she rejects the idea immediately. But twenty-four hours later she’s under suspicion for murder, and since Hez is the best attorney she knows, she reluctantly asks him for help.

Overly romanticized and redundant
Revisado: 11-11-24
Far too often authors get complacent and end up with overdone story lines, repeating narrative again and again, and then pandering to social trends to try to appeal to a younger audience.
This was all done (abused) in this book, then threw in a really dramatic narrator who uses whining & dripping statements of longing love. It was over the top.
And finally, it is hard to believe such a simperingly pathetic character as Savanah could be decisive and competent then switches back to the damsel in distress.
Why do authors need to make all women hero’s these days? Just draft a realistic character regardless of gender and the story will read so much better.
This author needs to retire - I won’t be reading any of her new work. I’ll still to her older books.

Historia
On a hot August night, Lt. Eve Dallas and her husband, Roarke, speed through the streets of Manhattan to the Down and Dirty club, where a joyful, boisterous pre-wedding girls’ night out has turned into a murder scene. One of the brides lies in a pool of blood, garroted in a private room where she was preparing a surprise for her fiancée—two scrimped and saved-for tickets to Hawaii. Despite the dozens of people present, useful witnesses are hard to come by. It all brings back some bad memories for Eve.

Sold out to woke ideology
Revisado: 09-07-24
It isn’t hard to pick out all the buzz words of the woke and DEI movement. The droning on and on painting the picture to fit a narrative that never would’ve happened in the way it was portrayed.
Too bad too. Good characters, excellent writing and a great narrator. But the author sold out to politics and left the readers with this narrow-minded drivel.

Revisado: 12-19-23
Any woman who jumps into a relationship like this is naive and reckless. I know I sound jaded but today it is not wise to believe in this kind of dreamy romance. 🙄
Most of all the narrator graded my nerves with the dramatic fa-la-la voices. Ugh! It was awful!!!

Historia
Standing over the body of a Supreme Court nominee, Lieutenant Sam Holland is hip-deep in another high-profile murder case. That she was one of the last people to see Julian Sinclair alive only complicates things even more. With her relationship with Senator Nick Cappuano heating up, they’re attracting a lot of unwanted media attention and blinding flashbulbs. The pressure is on for Sam to find Sinclair’s killer, but a new lead in her father’s unsolved shooting puts her in unexpected danger.

Really bad
Revisado: 07-21-23
The conclusions are wild and not at all proven. It’s slanderous and childish.
The characters are superfluous and other than Sam, not fully realized. Sam is an awful, prideful, pompous b!?@/. Not my favorite character type. She’s not funny or intelligent but empty-headed and reactive.
The attack on anything wholesome and good is unnecessary and petty.
And the narrator can’t seem to decide between condescending and aristocratic pompous voices.
Don’t read! I wish I could get my money (credit) back.
