This is a potentially 4 star book ruined by multiple (YES, multiple) cat mutilation scenes with gratuitous gory details. I continued to read for the ending but that’s all.

Thank you to Peter James for another gripping, thrilling to the last second stand alone book. A beautifully understated performance by the narrator. The combination of the writing and performance barely had me aware I was listening, it went by way too fast. Thank you!

I was so looking forward to what Peter James would gives us without Roy Grace and I was not disappointed! Just fabulous all round. Story, characters, research, complexities, relevance to the world right now, I could go on! Thank you! And the narration was excellent! I don’t say that often. All the stars!!!

Oh no, I forgot to check who the narrator was... I don't understand why some of my favourite authors use this narrator. Expressive narration can be wonderful but feeling like every word is being angrily shouted at you ruins the story. Cringe worthy.

My favourite detective delivered again! I loved this book! The degrees of separation theme always fascinates me.
