First hand stories told by a professional
Revisado: 09-23-24
Overall I liked this audio book. I read a lot of negative reviews before diving in, but I still wanted to give it a chance. I believe a lot of the negative reviews are coming from those who have never worked in the medical field.
This book does a great job of giving first hand stories, told by a professional, from early years- into more recent. Becoming a doctor takes a lot of work, patience, and knowledge. Where some reviewers said the doctor was insensitive or unprofessional, please trust me when I say, you need to find a twisted humor in the medical field most days, to keep a positive mind set. Patients coming through ICUs and hospital doors (even nursing homes) are becoming more demanding, more sick (and mentally sick as well), and in higher volume than ever before.
Again, I don’t give spoilers, but I did like the stories the doctor told, and it was interesting to hear how things used to be. The last chapter really hits home too. When you listen (or read) please let that sink in.

The combination of his love for money and infatuation with a younger girl led him to the brutal beating of his wife and subsequent attempt to frame an employee and former student. The death of his wife in Lawrence Mass, was considered an extreme act of rage and was initially attributed to the violence that was pervasive in...

Probably a better read than listen

Very intriguing story, but as my title says, I think I would’ve enjoyed it as an actual book, verse an AI voice reading it to me. I love true crime, and can’t believe how often his behaviors/ charges were dismissed.
