a story of struggle, poverty, and child abuse. the reader did an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. A little long but well worth the time.

Historia
Tyler Hartmann had made mistakes, but today was the worst so far. The ship he was on with his mom had been caught in a storm and slammed against some rocks. Soaked by the pouring rain and confused by the darkness, Tyler and the other children had jumped into a lifeboat. It was what they'd been taught by the captain their first day on the ship. But the adults had all gotten on a separate lifeboat. When the two crafts hit the water and were battered by the waves, there had been no way to keep them together.

A mother and father set out with their two children, a boy and a girl, driving from New York to Arizona in the heat of summer. Their destination: Apacheria, the place the Apaches once called home. Why Apaches? asks the 10-year-old son. Because they were the last of something, answers his father. In their car, they play games and sing along to music. But on the radio, there is news about an "immigration crisis": thousands of kids trying to cross the Southwestern border into the US but getting detained - or lost in the desert along the way.

Difficult
Revisado: 11-22-20
I seldom find a book I cant finish ... couldnt get through half of this one. The reader was difficult to listen to and the story had no flow. Plenty of big impressive words but did not sound like normal conversation. I wanted to like the characters but they were rigid and preachy and didnt even have names.. Most of what I got through was depressing and boring...except when she spent a chapter describing the audio recording of her kids farting and snoring. It should have been funny but wasnt. I was hoping for a good story but got a slow political mess that did not make me care more about the intended subject.

Historia
After years of city life, Orla and Shaw Bennett are ready for the quiet of New York's Adirondack mountains — or at least, they think they are. Settling into the perfect farmhouse with their two children, they are both charmed and unsettled by the expanse of their land, the privacy of their individual bedrooms, and the isolation of life a mile from any neighbor.
