Historia
Bunny McGarry is back – and he’d really like a nice holiday. Somewhere with hot weather and cold drinks that come with little umbrellas for reasons he never understood. A certain nun has other ideas though and instead, he finds himself dispatched to London to find Sean Malone, a runaway teenager who doesn’t know his mother hasn’t got long left to live. The only leads Bunny has are a last-known address for the deadbeat dad Sean had gone in search of, and some letters the teenager had sent to his mum, one of which included a picture of him with the current heavyweight champion of the world.

I loved that this story shows us Bunny in the wild, not in the world he knows and is comfortable moving around in. The best part..... Elton F$$king John!!!!!!!!

Suspense!
Revisado: 02-29-24
I have to say, Dervla McTiernan is one of my favorite authors, if not THE favorite author. Her storytelling is superb with wit, twists, and turns. Her stories are engaging and relatable and The Fireground is no different. The human condition bonds these characters. LOVED IT!

Bookstore owner Kerry Emerson finally seems to be back in control of her life. Her failure of a marriage firmly in her rearview mirror and her recent business expansion a success, she is in charge of her own future. One that is looking better than ever. The sight of the tall man, with the familiar salt and pepper goatee pushing open the door of her store, sets her hair on end. He doesn't exactly bring good memories.

Good Story
Revisado: 09-20-23
Loved the story but the female
narrator got on my last nerve. I'm not sure if she's just trying to hard to sound badass or what but it just comes across like she's a brand new local news anchor trying way way way too hard. She does better when she's narrating the dudes in her chapter. It almost made me stop listening. If you can get passed that is good. I just keep praying there's more chapters narrated by Damien.

Afraid that his girlfriend, fellow agent Maggie Keeley, will be dragged into a high-stakes political game, he delays his decision.

Read Don't Listen
Revisado: 08-25-23
I'm sad to say that the narrator totally ruined this book for me. I don't understand how a robotic, jerky reader got chosen to narrate. It makes it difficult to follow and not enjoyable at all. I feel awful saying this about someone's performance, but it has such a huge impact on everything.

Historia
Some lines should never be crossed. Police corruption, an investigation that ends in tragedy and the mystery of a little girl’s silence – three unconnected events that will prove to be linked by one small town. While detective Cormac Reilly faces enemies at work and trouble in his personal life, garda Peter Fisher is relocated out of Galway with the threat of prosecution hanging over his head. But even that is not as terrible as having to work for his overbearing father, the local copper for the pretty seaside town of Roundstone.

Great Story
Revisado: 08-19-23
Love this series and this addition proves nothing less than enjoyable. Unfortunately, the recording is very echo-ey. It's really quite distracting and bothers the ears and brain after a while. lol. Still, a great book and great performance.

Meet Eleanor Oliphant: She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she's thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding social interactions, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy. But everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond, the bumbling and deeply unhygienic IT guy from her office.

Quirky, sad, funny, and deep
Revisado: 02-13-22
When I first started this book, I really didn't know what to think. It was odd but in a way that I had to keep going. I am so glad I did. This has ranked in my top 10 favorites of all time. It is absurd in a completely normal and understanding way. It has a way drawing you in and making you realize how we are all absurd at some point or another. The characters are charmingly real while delivering a message that is ok sometimes to not be ok. It deals with a serious subject matter, mental health and suicidal ideation, but shows the hope and light that is there waiting for us. Brilliant! I hope the author continues Eleanor's journey.

Interesting Read
Revisado: 11-05-21
I grew up hearing stories of the possibility that a woman, who had taken on the appearance of a man, had become Pope for a short period of time. This book is about how that could have truly been the case. I really enjoyed this book.

When a client tells Sam Applewhite she’s seen ghosts in the nearby graveyard, Sam dismisses it as the ramblings of an old woman. She’s got bigger things to worry about. Keeping on top of her job at DefCon4 Security Services isn’t easy - particularly since her manager is a cactus, and no one will tell her what her job actually is. But when the ghost-spotting client goes missing, and only Sam suspects foul play, she is compelled to dig deeper.

A fun and far out romp
Revisado: 08-30-21
I loved the zaniness of this story! Calamity is woven into this story of greed and shady business dealings that leads to murder. It's outlandish happenings is the charm of the story. This tale has a Maxwell Smart meets I Love Lucy---esk feel to it that just draws you in.

Suspense and Mystery
Revisado: 05-28-21
The story has a good pace to it. It is an easy listen that delivers twists and turns along the way. The family dynamic was the only thing that fell flat for me. If that was developed a little more instead of using the stereotypical rebellious daughter and the gaming nerd son, it would have added a realism that the readers could grab on to.
