Historia
While renovating her Victorian home, Ana Clementine finds an ornate door buried under forty years of earth. Once she restores it to the attic, she starts hearing whispers, her loving husband has become a stranger, and her baby daughter learns a chilling new word. Maybe Ana has unlocked the house’s secrets. Or maybe she’s becoming just a little unhinged herself.

The not-so scary door
Revisado: 01-15-21
The tone of the story was set-up nicely, but I rapidly lost interest during the second half. The narrator did a fine job with what she had to work with.

Now, he's hearing the private thoughts of the people around him - and learning shocking secrets he never wanted to know. But as Tom's existence becomes a waking nightmare, even greater jolts are in store, as he becomes the unwilling recipient of a compelling message from beyond the grave.

More than the sum of it's movie adaptation
Revisado: 12-02-20
Like a lot of people - well, maybe not a lot, it wasn't exactly a hit upon release - I saw the movie based on this and enjoyed it. But the movie was a far more simplified version of the story. No spoilers: This version, much like the narrator, grows on you the further you get into it. The character of the wife was a bit one-note (unfortunately) but I sincerely recommend this easily digestible book.

Two-thirds of a good thriller
Revisado: 04-14-20
This was a nice little thriller; well written and briskly paced. After the third act twist that revealed the antogonist, however, the story began to lose me. Too conventional for my liking, but I can see it's appeal, much like a Lifetime movie.
The narrator, on the other hand, was excellent. Her vocal performance of the various characters was most enjoyable.

Strong robots also cry
Revisado: 01-29-20
This story turned out to be much better than I had originally expected. The twists, while easy enough to anticipate, had a, well, a twist to them, making them more interesting. The audio production was great, and the actors did a wonderful job. I highly recommend this easily digestible book.
