Historia
It’s hard to be a drunken idiot when the world keeps burning down around you. Cairn, the charming-yet-utterly-irresponsible heir to the Uskarrion throne, is all too happy to toss the crown aside. But an invasion, conspiracy, and rise of a terrifying villain result in his untimely death. Then, Cairn reawakens. It's a decade earlier, and he's in his childhood body. But he remembers everything...there's much to accomplish. First, however, he'd really love to stop himself from dying.

Don't waste your credit
Revisado: 10-03-24
Not a terrible book but not that good. I was having trouble getting my credit back otherwise I wouldn't have wasted my time listening to this book. Narrator is amazing but the voice he uses for the main character is really annoying.

Historia
Logen Ninefingers, infamous barbarian, has finally run out of luck. Caught in one feud too many, he's on the verge of becoming a dead barbarian - leaving nothing behind him but bad songs, dead friends, and a lot of happy enemies. Nobleman, dashing officer, and paragon of selfishness, Captain Jezal dan Luthar has nothing more dangerous in mind than fleecing his friends at cards and dreaming of glory in the fencing circle. But war is brewing, and on the battlefields of the frozen North they fight by altogether bloodier rules.

Warning! This is not really a adventure novel!
Revisado: 03-12-24
The first thing that you have to understand about this book is that it's more about the characters themselves and not really a adventure novel. It's not bad and some of the characters are really interesting. The Pharoah character (probably didn't spell that right) I particularly dislike but the rest are fairly interesting. I think that she was thrown in just to check off a diversity box. The narrator is amazing and really does a fantastic job. The book is basically game of thrones with a dash of wokeness thrown in. If you like grim, slightly woke character studies then this is the book for you!

Much better than the first

I had a hard time getting into the first book but this one is a lot better. The narrator does a really good job too.

Hard to follow
Revisado: 02-05-24
Not a bad book but definitely not the best in the series. The narrator is amazing but the story jumps around a lot and is hard to follow. Also I didn't think that the characters were that interesting.

For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Not as good as everyone says
Revisado: 09-07-23
This book is like Game of Thrones and and some teen romance show from the CW had a love child. It's not bad but it's not that great either. I almost swore that I would never read another Sanderson book after Elantris (one of the most boring books I've ever listened to) but this one intrigued me. There are good parts of this book. The narrator is one of them. He is excellent and really does a good job. Also the magic system is fairly unique and interesting. The main thing that holds this book back is that it's more like a teen romance novel than a cool and epic fantasy book. Sanderson is woke so of course the main protagonist is female. Not a problem necessarily but like I said it has a lot of teen romance in it and that gets old pretty quickly and it's over twenty hours. Would I recommend this book? Maybe but only if you have nothing else to read.

Don't waste your credit
Revisado: 08-28-23
If you are thinking about getting this book don't. It's not terrible but it's not good either. I was only interested in it because I am about to buy Baldur's gate 3 video game and I thought that this was a good way to get the back story for the first game. After listening to about half of it I would just recommend watching a lore video on YouTube. The writing is very disjointed and hard to follow and the characters are uninteresting. The narrator is decent but sounds like he should be reading a detective novel instead of a fantasy novel.

As much as I am a fan of warhammer this one is hard to recommend. A collection of short stories about 2 are decent. Narration is about the same. I guess it gives some insight into the different legions and what's going on with the events of the heresy. However I don't really think that you are missing much if you skip it. I kinda wish I did.

Good conclusion to the series
Revisado: 06-09-23
Good book not as good as the first but very enjoyable. The narrator is fantastic as usual. SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT! My only complaint is that the big baddie at the end is defeated to easily. You hear about him for two or three books and then when he finally gets here he is just taken care of too easily and conveniently my opinion. Other than that a fantastic listen!
