Historia
From out of the shadows of the Silent War, a hero emerges. Clad all in grey, an errant warrior of the Legiones Astartes kneels before the Regent of Terra, and accepts a solemn new duty - Battle-Captain Garro, once commander of the Eisenstein, now Agentia Primus of Malcador the Sigillite. From the desolation of Isstvan to the halls of the Imperial Palace itself, he stands as a paragon of loyalty and protector of the innocent, ever ready to strike back at the traitorous allies of the Warmaster.

Absolutely loved this
Revisado: 05-26-23
Garro has been my favorite character since Flight of the Eisenstein, so this is definitely biased opinion. This is a collection of short stories, but I honestly couldn't tell. It reads more like a solid story with the main character (Garro) going through a soul-searching mission. Nothing felt out of place. I can not recommend this book enough. Definitely top 3 for me.

Historia
Of all the Legiones Astartes, the White Scars of Jaghatai Khan remain the most enigmatic and elusive. Born of a civilisation that prizes honour, speed and fearsome loyalty, their allegiance has yet remained unclear even as the galaxy is torn apart by Horus's treachery, and both sides have apparently counted them among their potential allies in the war to come.

Skip unless you're a diehard Scars fan
Revisado: 05-14-23
This book isn't really good. I'm admittedly not a big White Scars fan, but this book didn't make me want to be either. The story is ok at best and is more of a side quest. The only somewhat interesting bits were in the final chapters, past chapter 20. Even then they're not all that interesting. The narration was good but due to the writing style of some of the dialogue, it can come off kind of racist. Very much like the Trade Federation in Star Wars.

Historia
Unaware of the wider Heresy and following the Warmaster's increasingly cryptic orders, Roboute Guilliman returns to Ultramar to muster his Legion for war against the orks massing in the Veridian system. Without warning, their supposed allies in the Word Bearers Legion launch a devastating invasion of Calth, scattering the Ultramarines fleet and slaughtering all who stand in their way. This confirms the worst scenario Guilliman can imagine - Lorgar means to settle their bitter rivalry once and for all.

Today we march for Calth!
Revisado: 03-20-23
I've been told this is one of the best heresy books. I believe that to be an adequate statement. I enjoyed this book all the way through. Great characters and great insights into different aspects of the lore. It's definitely a recommended read. With the marks of Calth to act as a time stamp, it very much felt like The Fall of Reach and some other Halo books.

Uninteresting and totally skipable
Revisado: 03-08-23
For once, I actually enjoyed Armstrongs narration fully. Unfortunately, the story is not interesting and is not important to the overall Heresy story. Prospero is nothing more than a footnote at the beginning of the final act. The entire story follows a "skald" which is what amounts to a Remembrancer for the other legions. There are several times where the story jumps back and forth between times in his life without any warning. So it can be a little hard to follow what's going on. For me, this is definitely the worst book in the series so far. It doesn't even show how Russ and the 6th were tricked into destroying the Thousand Sons instead of taking them into custody. Or his reaction to finding out the trickery. What this book does do well, however, is continue the meme of the Space Wolves and keep them unlikable. Except Longfang, he was cool I guess.

Amidst the galaxy-wide war of the Great Crusade, the Emperor castigates the Word Bearers for their worship. Distraught at this judgement, Lorgar and his Legion seek another path while devastating world after world, venting their fury and fervour on the battlefield. Their search for a new purpose leads them to the edge of the material universe, where they meet ancient forces far more powerful than they could have imagined.

Overall a good read
Revisado: 03-01-23
While I'm no Word Bearers fan, this was a good book. It does a great job showing you how they got to where they are and how Lorgar was led astray. It's obviously got hate-able characters *cough cough Erebus cough Kor Pharon cough* but it also has some likable characters too. It's a sad story for some of those likable characters. I'm not a fan of Armstrong's female and young person voices at all, but his narration was a lot better in this than it was for the first 2 DA books. Overall I would recommend this book.

Historia
Now that news of Horus' treachery is in the open, a time of testing has come. Some Legions have already declared their allegiance to the Warmaster while the loyalty of others lies firmly with the Emperor. As Horus deploys his forces, loyalist Astartes learn that a massive Wordbearers fleet is heading to Ultramar, home of the Ultramarines. Unless they can intercept the fleet, and destroy the mighty battleship that has been sent to reinforce it, the Ultramarines may suffer a blow from which they will never recover.

Not as bad as people say it is
Revisado: 02-22-23
This book isn't important to the HH story and can be skipped. I enjoyed it and thought that it gets some undeserved hate. Without spoiling anything, people say it's pointless and contributes nothing. Especially due to the ending. Personally, I think it fits in perfectly with the setting and does a fantastic job showing you the odds that are stacked against the loyalist legions. I think the ending is what makes this book good and really ties it all together. The voice acting was good. Really, the only bad part about the book was the stuff about the Space Wolf character. It really shows where the Space Wolf furry memes come from..

Magnus did nothing wrong!!
Revisado: 02-22-23
Just kidding, he did a LOT wrong. And this book walks you through it wonderfully. This book is probably one of my top 5 favorites in the HH series so far. It's beautifully sad. It does such a great job of showing you just how Magnus' hubris was the downfall to the Thousand Sons. It paints a beautiful picture of Magnus as the poster child of "The road to ruin is paved with the best of intentions".

Skip-able but a good story
Revisado: 02-22-23
This book isn't important in the grand scheme of things if you're just wanting the key events of th Horus Heresy. It is a good book though and sheds some light on the assassins of the setting. The first part is ok. It is split between 2 storylines. One is a crime thriller that is really good, the other is the main plot line and is slow to start. They come together at one point and that's when things pick up.

Revisado: 02-22-23
The writing and narration were both good. The story is important to the setting and probably not one I would skip. With that said, the Mechanicum is just not that interesting to me, so this was kind of a slog to get through for me. However, I did enjoy the parts about the Legio Titanicus houses.

With news of Horus' treachery spreading across the galaxy, the Great Crusade grinds to a halt as the primarchs and their Legions decide where their loyalty lies - with the Emperor or with the rebel Warmaster. The Dark Angels, too, face a time of testing, both among the stars and on their home world, Caliban. Luther, once Lion El'Jonson's trusted second-in-command, now languishes as an exile in all but name while his master struggles to thwart the traitors' advance upon the forge world Diamat.

Enjoying the Dark Angles story
Revisado: 01-06-23
Like Descent of Angels, Fallen Angels has a good story and continues the plot progression that was set up in the first book. I'm enjoying the story about Zahariel and Nemiel and the similarities and differences between them. Gareth Armstrong does a decent job at the voicing but im not a huge fan of his childish voices for the 2 main characters. They're supposed be adults by the end of the first book and sound like they're still 8. Other than that, it's great.
