Excellent adventure series
Revisado: 09-23-24
I've listened to books 1-4 back to back, and really like them all. It has everything: angst, intrigue, true love, sex, battles, magic, and DRAGONS! Where's the down side?
I need to take a break before I finish with the last two books, but I will finish.
Cheers to the Author

My second time listening to this one, randomly chosen.
THANK YOU LYN GALA!!!!!
There are many themes which you challenge, but with Roe v. Wade in danger of getting reversed in EVERY state, I appreciate the bravery of tackling when a "life" begins. Please keep challenging all the ideas, I dig it!

Say NO to Virtual Voice
Revisado: 05-25-24
Dear Julie K. Cohen, I Have listened to all the "Convict" stories, and I understand that getting your book narrated is difficult, but Virtual is just awkard and weird.
I look for RH stories, so there MUST be a better way to market your stories.
All the Convict stories are INTENSE, and not for everybody b/c of triggers, but the character interaction is really good, and the romance pulls the themes thru.
If you had the budget to get a LIVE narrator, these would have been so much more!

Historia
I'm in love with three men. I'm just not sure if they're a dream come true or my worst nightmare. It began with hearing voices: another step on my steady descent into madness. It was inevitable, considering the whole town hated me and I was the loneliest person on the planet. I didn't really blame them. Everyone who got close to me ended up in the hospital. I'd be suspicious of me too. When the three distinct, alluring voices in my head started to appear before my eyes as three distinct, gorgeous men I really started to question everything I thought I knew.

Loved it
Revisado: 03-29-24
A very unusual and unique paranormal romance.
The psychological aspect of a woman hearing and seeing what others could not kept me contemplating what it might be like to carry around those secrets. On one hand, is she crazy? on the other, yeah three lovers!
Well done.

Insultingly short
Revisado: 03-13-24
Loved the first story, and was revved for #2. Unfortunately, book two's cliff hanger comes too soon. The story feels cut off. It is just getting into the guts of the relationships when the surprising ending hits. For a seasoned author like CM Stunich, it's a bit of a surprise. I would expect more development, and a cliff hanger is never appreciated. Make the story longer, and avoid iritating readers/listeners!
I will follow this story, but I've been turned off by the abrupt cliff hanger, so I will not read/listen to other series from this author.

Great story
Revisado: 12-14-23
Ignore all bad reviews, this story is epic, and book one book one is only the beginning.
Yes, there is a lot to follow, but the multiple narrators/voices make it easy.
I’m starting book 4 now, and every coupling, sideline, and even the supporting characters/secondary relationships are fascinating, entertaining, and add to the plot.
This is an epic political intrigue with a lot of satisfying love and sex. It is never too much, b/c the romance dominates.

I came to Roseborne College looking for answers. This place swallowed my brother whole. What I discover are sadistic teachers who torture more than teach, unearthly sounds that echo through the night, and a wall of roses that holds the students captive. To unravel the mystery of this place, I need the help of three very different, unnervingly appealing guys. Guys who might be just as messed up as I am.

Patience is needed
Revisado: 05-06-23
Book 1: So confusing I hated it. nothing explained until end. Barely motivated me to continue
Book 2: best of the series: intrigue, action, romance, satisfying.
Book 3: too much exciting conclusion. all action all the time, all 25 chapters=exhausting
Narration: made it all worth while
Over all: I'm not sure I'd recommend this one. I usually like EC stories, but this one didn't hit the mark. Not really an RH, too much mystery in the beginning, and then too much action at the end.

I would marry Penny Reid
Revisado: 02-04-23
I would marry Penny Reid. If I knew her. And we were both lesbians. That's how much I love her writing.
The review:
Okay, Drama King is not as good as Homecoming King (which was perfect,) but it was a good follow up, and if she writes a third, I will buy it and listen. In fact, I will buy every Penny Reid book and listen/read them all at least once.
It's her writing that is brilliant. Her heroines inner monologues are better than any I have ever read. They are funny, quippy, self deprecating, and endearing. And she doesn't just love knitting, she's a crafter too. You can tell. (Thank you Penny, for giving obsessive crafters validity and voice.)
The best part of Drama King is the long, LONG, drawn out, angsty, sometimes painful journey her characters have to take to finally unite. I have found that this is true of all the PR books I have read/listened to. You have to be a patient listener. Luckily, she makes the journey VERY entertaining.
Joy Nash's narrating was wonderful in both books. Her acting is impeccable.

Ze Zem inclusive, thank you!
Revisado: 12-30-22
There are SO many things to like about this story:
1-Not the usual girl auctioned to a king/monster/alien set-up
2-female MC who does NOT whine, complain about her crappy childhood, or run from her new reality
3-polyamory, homosexuality, and asexuality are part of this world, and accepted
4- alternate pronouns!
5- male MC who is more interested in supporting his girl than 'doing his duty'
6- decent sex
7- great narration
I think there are many readers who will be thrown off by the sexual inclusivity of this book/world, but I like it. I hope the author continues writing stories in this Demon world and delves into those alternative relationships in future books

Not the E Langlais I was expecting
Revisado: 12-15-22
Okay, I bought this 3in1 collection B/C it was on sale and I've enjoyed over a dozen EL books in the past. They have been fun, fast, entertaining, and sexy.
This series was not. Maybe it was me not being in the right mood, but the stories just didn't hit the way way that they should. The male heroes, dragons, were not likable, so I could not relate to the Female MCs who loved them.
However, in the epilogue of book 3, a new protagonist is introduced with a new heroine who was a support character in book 1. THIS scenario holds promise as being more in line with the EL that I look for: not long winded, action filled, and just the right amount of sex.
So yes, I'll keep reading/listening.--as long as Chandra Skyye is not narrating. She's my least fave narrator, and only B/C she can't pronounce the Ts at the end of words. (Sorry CS, but listen to your own recordings, it is SUPER irritating.) "cerin", "tighin",etc. there are Ts at the end of these words, and you don't sound professional when you don't pronounce them. It's not an issue of an accent, it's bad diction, and I'm not even a librarian.
